map the controller direct to the parameter you need to edit.?

good question. i wonder about how to do this as well. how do i give my operator rack preset more than 8 macro controls?

mapping direct to a controller does not solve this because ableton macro controls can be mapped to multiple different parameters in the same chain at the same time. it would be nice to have the option to add more macro control knobs like the first user stated.

OR how is this possible if someone knows a workaround?

PS. I tried to group a rack so that you end up with racks inside racks but this does not work. this only allows one to change the first stage (set) of macro controls with the new set of macros in the outermost rack. one is unable to control specific parameters on the instruments or effects contained inside the first set of racks.

honestly, macro mappings are just a visual interface for what you can already do. you can map any number of single controllers to any number of parameters, with all the same adjustments as the macros.

and you can get to them via ctrl+M (apple+M) instead of having to click the box in the rack!

Midi mapping (as you are implying with your keyboard shortcut) is all fine and well, however this leads to tonnes of automation tracks in your arrangement when one desires to draw-in and have accurate control over several simultaneous modulations and movements. Whereas it is much easier to draw-in a single track macro control automation envelope that affects 3,4,8,10 parameters at once. I definitely see the advantage for such an option (to have the choice to add more rows of macro control knobs to a rack). it makes perfect sense if you think about what could become of this addition. Yes, i also realise it is probably possible to make this happen with dummy clips and make ableton receive midi control from itself but it would be nice to just be able to add more macro knobs directly in the racks. I know ableton are busy programmers and this is not a priority. I second the original poster's desire.

Yes, but macros are very handy for automation.
