Hi!
Is Live capable of receiving SysEx Midi information? I have absolutley no clue whatsoever how SysEx works, but since my new D.S. Desktop Evolver sends out SysEx, I wanted to know if I could 'record' e.g. filter sweeps in Live's arrangement view.
So far, these attempts have not been sucessful, strangly enough Live receives program/bank information from the Evolver, but automation of the synth's parameters has failed ...
Any clues, help or advice, someone? Please?
Cheers, pbanken

5 records I will always put in my record bag, regardless of the situation:
Aaron Neville - Gossip
Blaze - Lovely Day
The Emotions - Best of my love
Nosliw - Nur dabei
Maurizio - C4.2

Any plans to support it in the future? It's handy for controlling older MIDI synths that predate NRPNs and standardised MIDI CCs (like my Korg EX-8000).kleine wrote:Live does not support SysEx so far.
I´ve read that you need to update the Evolver OS to v.3 to be able to handle normal
CC data.
Best,
Christian

From my point of view, it's more about being able to save sysex dumps in Live sets themselves. Years ago, when I did all my sequencing on an Atari ST (yeah, showing my age, I know), I used to do a sysex dump of all my MIDI synth settings in Cubase, for complete recall next time I opened the arrangement, which worked perfectly. I'd envisage being able to record Sysex dumps into a clip, which could then be played back out to the synth in question. Maybe there could be a custom clip-type for sysex dumps?
Sysex support would also be invaluable for tweaking older MIDI synths that don't support CCs. My Korg EX-8000 is a good example. All the sound parameters can be edited with sysex, and my Novation controller can send out the required sysex strings, but when I'm using Live, all this is filtered out, so I can't tweak synthesis parameters.
