Orange Vocoder 1.0 and live 5

Post by topey » Wed Sep 17, 2008 9:44 pm

I bought old version of Orange Vocoder 1.0, but could not install it as it operates only in classic enviroment, which is not installed in my machine.

Does any one have any experience or idea of how it might work (old Orange Vocoder 1.0 with live 5) in PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz?

Orange 1.0 does not install to OS X, but requires classic enviroment.

Not too delighted to install OS 9, as there are no other app´s in use that needs to be opened in classic...

...but if it was sure that the combination would work, it might be worth of trying.

Hello topey,

I recommend to update to an OS X version of the orange Vocoder.
(they even have a 10th anniversary edition! :

10 th anniversary?, so it means that the package I have from 1998 is kind of original first release...

Yeah, I know that the question of Orange Vocoder 1.0 + LIVE 5 + OS 9 was going out of actuality about, or more than, five years ago, but ...

...the updating to the latest version would be nice of course, and that´s what I would do if I could afford it, but...

...I would also rather drive Porche than old bicycle...

...and as I am working on such a tight budget, there are plenty of 150 € things that should be bought before vocoder...

...so the question of buying fully prized version of vocoder will not be actual in many months...

...but I got this old version, and if someone happened to have experience to share of how the combination functions, if it functions at all, that might be such a timesaver.

Hello,

Live 5 does not run on OS 9, the latest Live OS 9 version is 4.14.
So, you could run Live 4.1.4 and Orange Vocoder 1.0 on OS 9.

Best,
Christian

OK

I have somewhere live lite 4, so may be there is enough reason to install OS 9, to get to know how orange vocoder works and to learn it´s interface.

Of course it is not that handy, as it was if it was all in the same app, but if there is a real need to use vocoder, then it is not too big work to make vocoder tracks in live 4.

And then my inner sarcasticist asks: "What might be that "real need" for changing your voice to sound like robot?"

Where I have not any other answers but: "If I have to communicate with computers, the using of the robovoice might help them to understand me better."

Thank You for your advices.
