How do u save controller mappings?

Post by Andrei » Fri Sep 26, 2008 8:58 am

If i mapped my controller to a set, how do i save it so i don't have to do it all over again when i open another set?

Is there any way that you can use the same controller buttons for different things in the same session (ex. transport+soft synth), i know it works with Novation and automap, is it any way to do it with other controllers?

Cheers

Hi, it is saved (the mapping) when you close the program and the next time you open that set, everything that was assigned will be there, don't have to re-assign anything.
I have an UC33e and as this controller has 33 memory banks I use them to control different things in the same set. (or you can use the 16 midi channels).

If you use always the same mapping, you can save it in your default set.

Sets do keep their mappings. If not - you've done something wrong.

Well, Tone's suggestion to read the manual is good but I'll give you some hints on the way...

Press ctrl/cmd+m, click the parameter you wanna control, twist a knob on your midi controller, press ctrl/cmd+m again to get out of midi assign mode. Done.

i think what this fellow is talking about is making a midi template so that he doesnt have to remap for each new project he does.

as far as i know, i dont think you can...

Andrei, you can make all of your MIDI assignments in an empty set, then go into prefs and assign it as your default template.

DON'T go overboard. Your default template is part of the very fabric of creation. Every time you start Live you're touching very ancient earth magic. You could loose hellish demons upon the earth simply by assign the wrong CC to track gain.**

** Having too much going on in your template can cause very difficult problems to troubleshoot. Keep it simple. If you want to get elaborate, create a blank project that has all everything you want or need except content, and use a shortcut/alias for the project file to launch Live.
