Most computer keyboards do not allow many keys to be pressed in several combinations. For example you can often press "asdf" together, but not "sdfg". So maybe you are trying to press several buttons at once that do not work together on your keyboard. You can simply find out by using a text-editor and pressing those keys concurrently.

If it is a combination that needs to be repeated often, you might want to try a programmable keypad or keyboard.

I've used this one and it does what you want, with one caveat. The device only allows you to press 2 or 3 keys at once (can't remember), BUT HERE'S THE COOL PART, you can put whatever you want on any key. So if you want asdf, just program a key for asdf (or "sdfg"). The USB spec allows up to 6 regular keys plus whatever modifiers you might want (shift, ctrl, etc).

Sounds like you accidentally changed the octave by hitting the Z or X keys. Those two keys change the octave that Live will trigger, and if you're playing a drum kit in Impulse and you accidentally hit Z or X, the drum kit won't work anymore. What I do is hit the kick drum (usually the A key) and hit Z or X until it lines up properly.

I think it's safe to say that you can ignore those other two posts.

thats true sometimes the octave is too high or low for the set instrument, pressing z or x will adjust it higher or lower , also sometimes on a slow computer the sample instrument will take a second or two to load and if you hit a key straight away you may hear nothing or a fraction of the instrument
