having problems with recording audio to Live

Post by Volante » Wed Oct 22, 2008 3:24 pm

hey
im quite a newbe in Live and im having problems with recording my bass guitar, or a microphone. when i plug either to my mbox 2 audio interface (not in record ready) i can hear the sound as supposed to, but when i press the record ready, it gives kind of a strange feeling as if L was carrying a processed sound (if i recall it was a compressor) while R is playing the original signal. im struggling to differ the sounds so this is an assumption.
any way, after i playback the part, i hear it only on L, R doesnt give anything.

i have tried to reach the solution through the Live lessons, which were so very helpful, but still couldnt find the answer on that one. could anybody be so kind to help me with my probably easy to solve problem?
tnx

Could it be that you're mixing the live signal with the direct input from the Mbox2 and that you've forgotten to press the mono button on the Mbox?

Try having the monitor "off" on the track in Live and pressing the mono button on the Mbox and adjusting the level with the mix knob.

I did remember pressing the mono button and have adjusted the mix level, but i would only adjust on L, R is still muted.
How do I turn off the monitor from the track?

i am still thinking maybe my disconfiguration is in the preferences\ channel configuration

thanks a lot! further help will be greatly appreciated

Preferences /Audio /Input config
Make sure 1 (mono) and 2 (mono) is yellow.

Then in the track mixer, Audio from : choose 1 or 2 (not 1/2).
This should select one of the 2 Mbox inputs.

In the monitor section of the track mixer choose "off".
You might have to record and see if you need to adjust "driver error compensation"

It's all in the Live manual.... ;-)

Best,
Fredrik
