So I got an Enttec OpenDMX usb->dmx interface. I was hoping to use it with Ableton and some appropriate VST plugin (I had seen lots mentioned).
I have a Eurolite DMX512 pixel tube IP20.
The tube has a 3-pin input. The USB DMX interface has a 5-pin output so I have a 5pin->3pin adaptor on my cable ...

Re: Another "Sync Two Laptops" thread. Via Ethernet or Wireless
Solution found.
Just needed ipMIDI. Very straightforward, can just connect directly with the ethernet cable.
There seems to be absolutely zero drift between the two metronomes. Using Live 8.2 and 8.2.1 here.

Another "Sync Two Laptops" thread. Via Ethernet or Wireless
We're both using Windows 7 and need to sync Ableton on both. Preferably without needing extra hardware and without using MIDI cables.
If we're using an Ethernet cable will we need some kind of hub or router in between or can the cable just go straight from laptop to laptop?

Re: Transfer all my MIDI mappings from one set to another?
Dragging the tracks with the midi mappings into the browser should work; so it saves as a live set, then you can drag it back in other sets. I do that for some external synths.
Best thing to do though is make a template and evolve it from there.
I tried the first method there, it works, but ...

Re: Quantizing Looper in useable way / Quantize MIDI to Looper?
I think I get what you're saying. Record on them all at once and then just use the overdub buttons after that?
The (other) solution to this problem was actually staring me in the face and I went making that huge post in this thread before I even realised it, haha.

Transfer all my MIDI mappings from one set to another?
Is there a way?
Also, can I somehow prevent Live from recording automation? Is there a way to easily delete the automation in one go other than having to highlight areas in the arrangement view and click delete? Because that will then delete the bits of audio clips I've just recorded too...
Thanks

Re: Live is suddenly taking about 5-6 minutes to start up
Fixed.
The log in AppData showed it was taking Ableton like 300 seconds to read some faulty event log file. Deleted it. Sorted.
Thanks for the steer.

Re: Live is suddenly taking about 5-6 minutes to start up
Does your VST folder have any shortcuts to other folders in it? This can mae Live take very long to start up sometimes.
If not, you can always just delete your preferences file to see if this helps.
I prefer renaming it to something like preferences.cf_

Re: Ableton Crashes everytime i try to save version 8.2.2
No ones ever had this problem, then?
my version must be special 8O
I do get this a lot. It has happened with 8.1 for me anyway. Mostly just when I have a bunch of stuff in the set or have recorded some audio. It just says Live has run out of memory and then closes.

Live is suddenly taking about 5-6 minutes to start up
Since about 3 weeks ago, Live just out of nowhere began taking FOREVER to start up, with the splash stuck on "Initialising Application".
I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything a couple of times now. I've even done a system restore to before the problem began.
Nothing seems to fix the ...

Live performance sampling slices of audio
I have a method set up right now to allow me to record 8 slices of audio (quantized to 1/8 notes or to 1/4 notes). My method uses MIDI clips in Live that send control msgs to the Record buttons on 8 Loopers in Live and then 1/4 or 1/8 beats later send a control msg to the Stop button on 8 Loopers ...

Host compensation for Plugin with audio delay
I'm using Intelligent Device's Slip-n-slide VST effect in Ableton on live audio. The live part is important.
I understand the plugin delays audio by 500ms to do it's processing on the signal - this is fine, I don't need to use it on anything too tight or staccato or anything.
But, when I turn the ...

Thanks, the technique he describes sounds like exactly what I need, he even talks about using it for the very reason I want it, i.e. an autosampler

Quantizing Looper in useable way / Quantize MIDI to Looper?
Really sorry about the crazy length of this post. Been putting far too much thought into all this and still haven't cracked it somehow. Thanks so much to anyone bothering to read it.
