Re: Music Theory Question
Hi Clayton!
First of all, you kinda do need the C in there somewhere to make it a "C something" chord. Typically at least in the bass if nowhere else. This could be your left hand if you are playing solo, or you can let the bass player cover it if you are in an ensemble.
For the right hand then ...

Softstep 2 mapping to scene launch --- strange behavior
Hi everyone... just got my Softstep 2 working for Ableton 10. Had some difficulty in getting the buttons to map with any message other than "pitchbend" but I think that was resolved by deselecting "sync" in the "SSCOM (Port 1)" in MIDI Preferences...

missing latin percussion
Hi, I can't figure out why all of a sudden all my latin percussion samples are missing. It's only those ones (along with a tiny handful of audio clips specific to the song, and oddly, something called "Suite 8 demo tip").
More importantly, how can I most efficiently reload just those samples from ...

online upgrade to 8.2.1 on new laptop
Hi everyone... I am authorizing Live on my new laptop that just came today (yay!). Ableton's site suggested I download the latest version 8.2.1 "with content." This was after I just used my install disk from the Suite 8 box to load 8.0.1.
What I'm wondering is if I need to load any of the other ...

where are these annoying artifacts coming from?
Hi, I am recording a kick drum with an AKG C414-B. I don't see any overloading on either my (new) Onyx-820i mixer nor on the meter bars in Live, but when the track plays back I consistently hear intermittent crackles that sound like digital artifacts. I don't think it's the microphone because I don ...

how to place a snare lead-in at the end of an intro scene
I'm just wondering if there's an easier way for this:
Let's say I have a two-bar bass loop and a one-bar drum loop that I want to comprise a four-bar intro scene. At the very end of this scene I want the snare to enter as a pick up to the vamp that is the scene to follow. With my very new and ...

can't get midi tracks to concert pitch
I'm boggled as to why my midi tracks have drifted in pitch. They are 3/4 of a step too high, compared to the same notes simultaneously sent to an external device (which I know to be in concert pitch). Is there some "global detune" that I may have accidentally messed with? Thanks...

Re: Can't change buffer size
Thanks for the straight-up insight... it's very much appreciated. I had a feeling the problem might be on the Digi's end. I'm hoping to upgrade to one of Mackie's Onyx mixers for my A/D conversion ASAP... ~scotty

Zero-G Loops files are corrupt
Does anyone know if there's a fix for the "Zero-G" loops file that I'm unsuccessfully trying to install?
The file is called "Zero-GLoops_v8.1.alp" and it must've been included on the Suite 8 installation DVDs, but I'm consistently getting the same error messages:
"Failed reading Live Pack File ...

Re: Can't change buffer size
Well, this is interesting: I'm now noticing that my I/O in audio prefs has been set to "built-in audio" for some while today. I found that if I switch the audio INPUT device to the "Digi002," I still have control over my buffer size. But if I also ( or singularly) assign the OUTPUT device as the ...

Re: Can't change buffer size
That did the trick... thanks a bunch!
(I'm using a Digi002 for my interface currently, by the way... hoping to upgrade to something else soon)
Thanks again, Jörg!

Re: wavering external clock (or interpretation thereof...)
yeah, it's all definitely "cooled a bit" for sure, and not just with the loosely-defined and even more loosely-organized eco-radical activist "anarchist" scene in general out here on the West Coast, but I'd say even across the whole gamut of dissent on the whole, after this "things are different now ...

Can't change buffer size
...or rather, I can change the buffer size number, but once I leave prefs->audio and come back, the number is still stuck at 1024. Doesn't seem to matter whether I enter it with the return key or by clicking "apply" (which solved the problem for a previous poster with seemingly the same issue), the ...
