So, did you get a response from SoundQuest? I was interested in the same program but I certainly wouldn't want to be limited to one instance! Hope it worked out for you- was the support decent at SoundQuest?

Thanks,

Ok, so the "real" drums I was looking for took the back seat. I downloaded RMIV and Microtonic and the decision was made pretty quickly- Magnus Lidstrom is one amazing creator. Makes me want to try the Malstrom synth, though I've never been interested in the Reason interface.

After tweaking a few ...

AU or VST plug-in for mac- one over the other?

Hi,

Is there any difference in running a plug as an AU or as a VST? If you choose one over the other, please let me know why. PAX

Drumcore sounds like your kinda bag. I have been using it successfully for awhile now.

The "key" is to use the loops. If you want details, I'll give them, since there is no real buzz out there.

Thanks for the post. If you've been using Drumcore and don't mind sharing some tips, that would be ...

Microtonic is a full on drum synth, and thus really doesnt contain many "real" drum sounds per-say, although it is capable of making all sorts of sounds, so give it a try. CPU useage is EXTREMELY LOW, less than 6% on my macbook while using all 8 synth parts.

If you want a really good and smooth ...

drumcore or microtonic or rmiv or....HELP PLEASE

Hi,

This may have been hashed out before, but I am hoping I can get some direct help in finding a drum sampler/ drum loops to get me bouncing in Live. A lot of you have direct experience with these programs, I appreciate any help offered.

List of important elements in deciding are:
1) Low CPU ...

routing external audio into a midi instrument- MOTU MX4

Hi all,

Could someone help here: Is it possible to route an external audio input (guitar) into a midi instrument (MOTU MX4- an inspiring synth with an uninspiring iLok) in Live? Side-chaining audio into a midi inst. is probably a feature that I've overlooked. I am a new user and apologize if there ...

I'm sure you've already tried, but be aware of the difference between synth volume and guitar volume. Also check the control change in the patch, it may hold you to one volume.

I've just borrowed one of these today and am looking forward to checking it out.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the input. Just got back from Fry's Electronics where they had a darn good deal on a WD 160 GB 7200 RPM ext fw/usb (dual option they call it) for $100 after rebates. I'll see how it goes. If anyone's interested, the deal is on until tomorrow, 31 Jan. Check Fry's outpost.

Quiet and dependable external drive? recommendations?

I am looking to purchase an external firewire hard drive for audio files. Can anyone speak out strongly for or against any products on the market? Appreciate any and all replies.

My computer is a Mac Powerbook G4 running Tiger.

Anyone recommend a good midi tutorial, book or on the web?

I really need to get a basic grasp of midi-speak. Anything out there that can help me get going? Would prefer something comprehensive, but, more importantly (like Live), easy to understand.

Any, all recommendations appreciated.

Ah-ha. All very helpful. Would having a separate Firewire hard drive (at 7200) for only audio files be helpful? I would imagine having the app. on the internal drive is best, using the second (I would imagine faster) drive for recorded files. I wonder if this would cause any probs with the Mackie ...

How many simultaneous tracks can I record?

Hi all, I am new to Live 5, it will be here at the end of the week (with an Onyx 400F), and I have been checking this forum and am amazed at the helpfulness of the users.

I am certain the tutorials will give me an answer, but my imagination is running and I want to know ahead of time what is ...
