It's not so much a matter of being complex, it's just that the tools and techniques needed vary considerably depending on what you are attempting to do.

For something like hip hop, I'd be inclined to add lots of top-end EQ (using EQ Four in Live) and then don't be scared to add lots and lots of ...

Thanks for the response.

No, "timing" or synchronisation is not the issue. Everything is at the same BPM.

It's merely that - as is so common in ALL music - some phrases or loops simply start BEFORE the beat, i.e:

"get DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

(where the "DOWN" is on the down-beat, and the "get ...

Anticipating the beat

Hi Forum Folks.

I'm basically a Cubase SX chap, but I'm finding that now that I want to record and mix my own material (as opposed to someone elses), Cubase just gets in the way of things, whereas Ableton Live! lets me get on with creative work.

Plus it's FUN to use, and doesn't get me in a bad ...

That's right

These guys are quite right.

I've been doing this myself all day today, in order to set up independant headphone mixes (from the channels sends) on separate outputs on a multi-channel soundcard.

If you want to do stuff like this, make sure that you click the INPUT CONFIG and OUTPUT CONFIG buttons ...
