THe other chords were not specifically asked for.

You said C Major. That's what I wrote down. Generally we music educators assume that the student wants to start at the most basic level. And when we say C MAJOR generally that means triads.

You know what's funny? You were just testing me. I am so ...

maybe you can help me understand how half-diminished and diminished chords come from a major scale
Diminished chord - 1, b3, b5
In C that would be a Bdim chord
B D F - all of which fall in the C major scale

Half diminished 7th chord - 1, b3, b5, b7
In C it's built off of the 7th degree, B, so ...

YOu seemed confused about the types of chord tones that are supposed to be used in a given situation.

Ok try this: tell me what are the chords for a C Major progression?

If you have that knowledge, that's pretty much what wer're talking about so far as I know. Sometimes if you are confused it is ...

so ok, we're talking about CMaj

the supposed diminished chord is B. so the Bdim needs an Ab, which doesn't exist in the Cmajor scale.

but i know kung fu is talking about 3 note chords. so in that case, how can there even be a half-diminished chord at all? doesn't half-diminished need to have a ...

Yes, you are correct. WIth the harmonized major scale, that is the proper classical progression. You did not specify that before. Therefore, it was incorrect because you said "IT" is "always like this" not "MAJOR" is always like this. See?

Rock music bastardizes classical, primarily in its "major ...

music teacher responds

Correction, it is not always
I MAJOR
II MINOR
II MINOR
and so on.

Therein lies the danger of looking for theory answers on a tech site. The responses to this post contain many incorrect answers. Sorry guys.

Anyway, the chord progressions to follow vary from major, to natural minor, to rock minor ...

breakpoints

I see you are using breakpoints to vary the tempo. Well maybe I can use my music teacher knowledge to mathmatically figure out how to do that in 1/4. Good idea and thanks so much!

guess I'll contact Ableton and let them know about the problem. As a progressive songwriter I am rarely in 4/4 the ...

change tempo mid-song?

Hello!

Anyone know how to do this?

I've got a tune that starts in 4/4 at about 80 bpm, and it needs to go to 3/4 at 130 bpm or so. Kind of a Beatles-esque song.

Right now I've been doing it by recording into the linear arrange view, copying and pasting the clips I want into session view as a clip ...

THanks! I have been completely, frustratingly unable to click and drag.

I am not a new comuter user. Not a programmer or anything, but hell, I can code some HTML in a pinch. Don't see why I cannot f-ing CLICK AND DRAG.

What am I doing wrong?

By the way the copy and paste thing works.

need help dragging from arrange to session (newbie)

Hi guys! Just got Ableton. It rocks!

How can I drag a block of audio to the session view? I select it so that it is yellow and highlighted; however; it does not move when I then attempt to drag it over.

Any keystrokes I am missing?
