Tetra + the Live editor in Ableton.

Hey guys,

I've just got my hands on the Tetra I'm really loving it.

However, I'm having a slight issue with Ableton and the "Live Editor" software to make them work in unison. They seem to work fine individually. But not if they are open at the same time for some strange reason. Is there a way I ...

Re: Advice for producing Punk/Metal sound.

Thanks guys! :)

Sorry I should have made it a bit clearer - I'm not really looking for that highly polished "AC/DC" type of sound production (which is really cool for them). Really, it's pretty much just highly charged aggressive punk with a metal overtone... Music like that, if it's over produced ...

Advice for producing Punk/Metal sound.

Hey y'all,

I'm currently recording some of my bands track for a demo. It's pretty straightforward music - just fast Punk/Metal. Anyone, got any tips on how to make the sound that bit better while mixing and trying to finish the track. At the moment, I'm just using some compression and EQ on the ...

Re: Videos for training

I wonder if "Mac" Pro Video doesn't really care all that much about PC users and just reluctantly offers a player that they're not all that interested in troubleshooting either

I think you've hit the nail on the head there... I'd say if your using a PC buyer beware. :( It's a real shame as the ...

Re: Videos for training

Yes the dreaded NED player from Mac Pro Videos. Their videos are good, but that player really sucks. I could not get it to work on my PC and the support is god awful. I was just totally fobbed off. In fact, it has never been resolved to this day. So I'll never go to them again under any ...

Nice... I'm into my stomp boxes too, you can beat the 'auld analog distortion. :)

The Rat and Big Muff are class. I recently picked up a "Scott Ian Black 13" (little bit contemporary but still cool). I also have a "land mine" distortion pedal and it's so damn nasty. :)

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

Again, I appreciate all the comments... Although probably better to leave out personal insults on all sides. :)

The hard verses soft synth is always a thorny issue - I've seen it come up over and over on various forums :(. Don't get me wrong I like my soft synths. But they definitely have a ...

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

Novation Super Bass Station (hardware version). Fairly nice distortion on it. Downside is occasionally the notes stick, on mine anyway.

I've seen a few bass station demos always quite liked the sound and they are a decent price on ebay. As regarding notes sticking - happens from time to time on ...

I got a funny feeling the bass in this was made on operator.

Sounds damn pretty vicious. Class... Thanks for the link! :)

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

How bout a JP8000 / JP8080? Supersaw is narsty! Getting the Vengence Soundbank for it added tons of wicked bass sounds to it.

The old Roland stuff is indeed cool... Do they have anything near as good from their new range. I thought the Gaia looked kinda' interesting. But buying anything second ...

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

@dna598
I had considered purchasing an EMU and as you said they are pretty cheap these days (saw a couple on Ebay). I'm still trying to get my head around "Sampler". How does it compare to an EMU?

Unfortunately, I don't have operator. I've been using Massive, Predator and Sylenth, I had purchased ...

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

Hey guys,

Looks like I've opened up a can of worms here.:( However, I do appreciate everyone taking the time to answer.

I hear what people are saying about "soft synths" - and I have collected quite a few at this stage. I've been really pleased with some of th "Dark bass" stuff I got out of them ...

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

Wow... there's a lot of love for the evolver here! Cool, I actually know a guy who's selling. :)

Re. the above "issues" I mentioned... I don't mind if there' no "on/off" button. And I'm not too pushed if a knob or two falls off, as long as you can still use it - who cares. :)

as for relieablity ...

Re: Hardware synth for angry bass? :)

Hey guys,

Thanks for the response...:)

I've heard some good reports about the "evolver" sound capability. There were a couple of things that made me a a bit weary of the unit though - just from reading a few reviews.

1) the knobs seem to be poor quality and needed be replaced from time to time ...
