I'm trying to do midi step recording in the midi note editor with midi editor preview turned on.
I use the arrow keys on a qwerty keyboard to move the insert marker back and forth.
I use a midi keyboard to play the notes one step at a time.

Go into your 'Live Devices' (top left). Amp should be under 'Audio Effects'.

I have Ableton Suite 8. Sometimes when I record midi in arrangement view and then stop recording the latency would shoot up.
