Basically I use both the launchpad and LPD8 for triggering effects, I have a few effects assigned to the LPD so I can use them while triggering samples on the launchpad(also for convenience ones that require knobs to operate).

Actually, I can't figure out how to map with that at all. This is so frustrating. These are basic features on a workstation synth, why doesn't Live have them? Not only that it causes a feedback error when I try to use it in the same application.

Found a way of doing it. Now if only I could find a way to do an LFO without needing to use MAX.

it's worth noting that in order to "see" vst parameters in the clip/automation envelopes..
you need to 'enable' them by hitting the 'configure' button on the vst ...

I also hate not being able to add automation in individual clips/loops. Like if I want a loop to have a part where distortion suddenly turns on then off. Ableton is a much more basic DAW that I first thought...

One thing which I'm pretty unimpressed with in Ableton is the Automation layer. I can plot points(no curves) or draw a jagged, uneven line. No way to draw curves, and of course, no way to get a smooth LFO like response. Another problem is that I can't set automation stuff for effects or VST controls ...

do you NEED automap though? You can use both the launchpad and the nocturn in live without it, very well might I add. Automap just gives you limited additional functionality, that may not even be of any use to you....

Alright, I got rid of automap. Now I'm in the position I was before I installed it - the device refuses to so much as light up. What do I do? What am I missing?

I don't think they are. I heard something about them both using CC0 but switching around with that didn't resolve it. Everything's so confusing, there aren't any real midi options.

I would like to do this without automap, but how does that work? I couldn't get the Nocturn working at all without it.

Now it's confusing the two devices. The Launchpad won't work as a Launchpad and tries to act like it's the Nocturne. This is just unbelievable. How they get away with making such user unfriendly devices?
