You need to enable an IAC bus in AudioMIDISetup, before it will show up in Live.

Double-click on the IAC driver, check the 'device is online' checkbox.
You can rename the bus under the ports tab.

At the moment the IAC bus is limited to one instance. If you enable more busses, you can expect weird ...

When you select the ReWire bus in Logic, did you select the MixL and MixR at the very top of the menu, or the one part way down ?
It is a little confusing, as the first Mix channels you see, when the menu pops up, are actually for the second ReWire device. The Mix channels are always first on the ...

The similarities are merely superficial. Both apps pitch-shift, stretch to tempo/beat-match, but thats where the similarities end.
Soundtrack is for non-musicians with media-editing skills, Live is for musicians.

I don't know that Live would be served all that well by just becoming another DAW. Too many compromises, too many features to be nurtured.

Sounds a lot like a bug Logic used to have. The 'ethernet bug'. It happened when ethernet was selected in TCP/IP. Particularly if the computer wasn't connected to an active ethernet network. [though it did happen when it was as-well]
