Re: Griid/Cliip- iPad controller lets you get INSIDE clips

NICKBUGAYEV wrote: I really like the encoder-view idea (see earlier posts in this thread) but the issue with them is the if the object is relative, you can't get a full range if it's placed on the edge of the screen (let alone in the corner!)
Could you elaborate on that?
"Relative" in what way?

Re: Griid/Cliip- iPad controller lets you get INSIDE clips

Hehehehe welcome to my daily world. :-) same here, same here.. i might come up with more after my brain recovered from this maths for computerscience/dsp-programming study session today  one more thing: a full-screen encoder-view option wont be that bad after all in cause someone's using more...

Re: Griid/Cliip- iPad controller lets you get INSIDE clips

You're talking about mapping encoders to the knobs on Rack Macros? Exactly, or well just skipping through the knobs in ableton via arrows eventually. But on first sight, mapping those to rack macros seems the easiest solution for now. (I'm not really into Ableton's Python API programming wise, so I...

Re: Griid/Cliip- iPad controller lets you get INSIDE clips

this sounds really interesting, but what do you mean?? what would an encode/knob do in each grid cell? In that case I really like the APC-Approach. Their Ableton-Script »mounts« the first 8 knobs of a device to the actual hardware surface and you can switch through the devices my pressing the arrow...

Re: Griid/Cliip- iPad controller lets you get INSIDE clips

congrats... lovely. i love the minimalistic and clean approach. as for the crossfader, i dunno - is anyone using that thing? im seeing griid as a performance tool.. anyway, as for access to the faders it'd be kinda nice to have some sort of split-screen view. e.g. the mixing-desk fading in/out on th...

Re: looking for a way to create raw, industrial sounds + samples

Two entirely different ways. The first approach is very interesting, i`ve tried a lot with own environmental recordings, animal sounds, working noises w/ iron and wood but didn´t get it in such a clear and clean quality as it sounds in the named productions yet. It's also really a matter of the rec...

It seems that the 7200 rpm Momentus drives have G-Force Protection. I wouldn't dare to turn it off on a laptop that gets moved around allot like yours. http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:y09ovSrJAHUJ:www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/whitepaper/MB585_gforce.pdf+Seagate+Momentus+g-force+protection...

Re: looking for a way to create raw, industrial sounds + samples

You probably wanna get a field-recorder or some kind of :)

Those kind of raw sounds are often made by recording sounds from the enviroment and applying effects to those.

Re: Dell Studio XPS 1640 - Files skipping in large soundsystems

Hey Alex, these problems are most likely to occur to due what's called SMS (Sudden Motion Sensor). This sensor is supposed to quickly disable your HDD in case of immenent impact because of e.g. dropping your laptop. Some Laptops have these sensors on-board (like Macbooks) and some companys integrate...

Re: Firewire 800-400 causing digital noise in my monitors

Which of the Power-Plug Cable of your Macbook have you used? The one with grounding or the "euro"-version? Try using the grounded one as it rules out a few problems. Also: Are all devices connected to the same wall socket? Does the noise persist when the BenQ Screen is connected but turned...

Well, in the Ableton Preferences where you select the In and Output for the surface (like the Launchpad is) you use :)

Re: fire 2 systems with one LaunchPad

I can only imagine this could work with OSX's MIDI-over-Ethernet and by creating a seperate MIDI-Track in Ableton routing all the MIDI-Signals coming from the Launchpad over the Ethernet-MIDI-Port to the 2nd System (with the Launchpad-Surface-Script I/Os configured to the incoming Ethernet-Ports).
