Alienware MJ12 7000. Fans constantly spinning at the volume of a blender. That thing crapped its pants after like a year and a half of use. What a fool I was.

Be warned, it's not just "click - stop!" - it's still freezing up and there's some lag in communication and it's still frustrating, but using the CPU button it's at least possible to get that mercy bullet into the app's head. So, it won't be as instant as maybe you're expecting, but yes, t...

It's not an Ableton preference, is it? I wasn't able to find it.

Re: Stuttery Distortion & Cutout Audio Glitch

Running Live, there are times (very often, actually) when it seems it's all too much for my computer's ASIO driver and suddenly the sound turns into staticky, stuttery crud. I'm always able to fix this by going into Live's options screen, selecting the audio tab, then switching from ASIO to No Audi...

I've found the answer: if you still have mouse control, click on the CPU meter when your system craps itself and the audio engine will shut off. You can toggle audio back on by just clicking the meter again. Genius! I can now freely play sets without fear.

I'm wondering if this is the purpose of the new "click cpu meter to stop audio engine" feature? I sort of wondered what that was for. I wonder if it stops the engine automatically on 100%.. I would bet it doesn't. I've not been anywhere near a 100% cpu situation in tests, but if I do - I'...

I don't know - or care :) - how they do it, but Logic has the feature we're talking about. I'm not a Logic guy, but a buddy of mine who uses it exclusively says that if he ever loads up his tracks too much for the processor to handle, Logic simply won't play, thereby avoiding that awful closed loop ...

Beta Bug Fix

Does this fix that weird Ableton 6 bug where Impulse loses/forgets what drum kits I'm using in all my songs?

Missed out on the Computer Music Issue

No one in my area carries CM as far as I can tell (or maybe they were grabbed off the shelves before I could get there) and the link to purchase the Live issue online didn't make sense to me at all. Is there any way to get my hands on this info now? i.e. are the articles up on the WWW and/or are the...

Routing The Output Of One PC To Input To A Track On Another

I've got two PCs and I want to use them both in tandem to basically double my processing ability in Live. I've got Live loaded on both PCs. Can I effectively use one PC as an instrument by routing the master output of Secondary PC into an audio track on Primary PC while forcing Secondary PC to confo...

After giving it a little thought, another thing that'd be really nice would be if I could click on other tracks and view their details like normal while another track is Freezing. I understand it doesn't make sense to be able to edit other stuff while the track is Freezing because you don't want to ...

Ooh! I just figured it out!
You have to drag from the Session View for some reason. Arrangement View won't do it, I wonder why that is.

And Holey Moley it works with VSTs!!!

Sweet mercy, I'm cackling with glee. This is the coolest.

Sweet! How? I tried this out but couldn't get it to work. When I drag the clip (by its top bar) over into Live's workspace/browser area, I couldn't seem to get the cursor to give me anything but the "no dropping it here" circle-with-a-slash-through-it. I thought the failure of the experime...
