"Maximum Cache Size" is set at off, and "Minimum Free Space" is set at 1GB. My hard drive has 200+GB of free space, so there should be sufficient room for all the cache files.

I have both of these and they work great. Both have a dedicated headphone output with selectable source.

One thought that came to mind...

This could be related to the cache that Live keeps for all the samples used in the project. Might be due to the disk size or number of files causing Live to rebuffer/decode all the samples again.

I just tired moving my cache folder to another (larger) hard drive ...

Hey, so I'm using a pretty large set comprised of 200 samples (each one representing a full length song) for DJing. Sometimes when I load the set, Live slowly buffers each sample in my entire set, which takes like 20 minutes. Other times, the buffering is instant.

The cue function in Live is too simple. Kinda sucky.

To get a mix of multiple tracks in your headphones in the past I have done this:

-for all tracks, set audio out to sends only
-set A Return audio out to master
-set B Return audio out to outputs 3/4

Now you can basically use the send knobs on ...

I went from APC40, then added a VCM600, then added an iPad. Pic of my setup below.

I never used any of the knobs and faders on my APC40, so I just sold it and purchased a Launchpad. It's working out well so far.

mystery solved - you need to open Ableton Live as admin (via right clicking) EVEN when you are logged in as admin.

It was not a problem due to specific file permissions, even though it only affected certain files. Windows7...good times.

Does everything else work well? The knobs on my APC40 are all very smooth with a decent amount of resistance. They don't feel as solid as some of my DJ mixers, however they do provide accurate control. Your's sounds broken.
