VERY frustrated DJ/Producer.
I've been producing and mixing for about 7 years. I've only had 1 gig, and despite some friendly comments, none of my tracks or mixes have really garnered much attention. I relocated and took 6 months off from music due to being frustrated. I'm once again inspired to make music and mix. The problem ...

Question for Abelton DJ's
Hey everyone, I usually chop and warp tracks in Ableton then bounce the wav file of that track into Logic Pro, where I render it to MP3. I then put that mp3 back into Ableton to use for a DJ set. I have no problem doing this but it seems a little too time consuming. My question is, instead of ...

Re: Question for Ableton DJ's: How to keep crowds interested?
16 bars sounds crazy short for a transition unless you're playing hip hop and slamming the fader over.
I chop up the track heavily, basically making it a radio edit. I keep the intro drums and outro drums intact but chop the song up to be 2-4 minutes, usually just keeping the verses and hook ...

Re: Question for Ableton DJ's: How to keep crowds interested?
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm 150% ready to play a gig. Musically, it's my main goal right now. I have fast track pro external soundcard but talking with other artists, if I'm not cueing in headphones, I'm told I don't need a soundcard for a live gig. I guess the one thing I realized is every ...

Question for Ableton DJ's: How to keep crowds interested?
I'll be playing a gig soon (Electro house) and I was hoping to get a question answered from you guys. I'll be using my UC-33E/Macbook (No headphones). Usually during a mix, I always have 16 bars of transition (no more, no less). During these 16 bars, I completely mix into the next track. Usually ...

Snare+kick notes hitting awkwardly in DJ set in Live 8..
I've been dealing with this problem for awhile now. I mix Electro House, usually around 128-130 bpm. Even after warping a track, a kick or snare will have an awkward sound to it. It's not every note, maybe just 1 hit in the whole track. The listener might not hear this but it annoys me that I have a ...

Re: My APC40 knobs have a mind of their own! Help!
I couldn't find a solution to this problem, and Akai doesn't think I can fix it on my own, so I'll be sending it back for repair this weekend. Apparently this is a rare hardware defect. Don't get it twisted though, this unit is built like a monster, and this is a very isolated issue.

Re: My APC40 knobs have a mind of their own! Help!
Does everything else work well? The knobs on my APC40 are all very smooth with a decent amount of resistance. They don't feel as solid as some of my DJ mixers, however they do provide accurate control. Your's sounds broken.

My APC40 knobs have a mind of their own! Help!
Have had the APC40 for about 6 months now and love it but I've run into some glitches that are really hurting my DJ sets. I'm only using EQ3 for the knobs, and when i turn them, they usually move themselves and jump +1 or -1 db without me even touching the knobs. To get to the point, my knobs aren't ...
