Re: Low latency 2-6 channel soundcards for live ableton performa

Save for the Babyface. Most anything less will be a false economy. I tried the MOTU Track 16 and Focusrite 18i8 previously and returned them both. I could not get acceptable latency for soft synths with them. Found the Babyface for cheap from Juno Records, and I could not be happier! I usually get t...

Re: Ableton Live and BCR2000?

Digging up an older thread here, but I hope someone can help. I'd like to get MIDI parameter feedback working from Amplitube VST in Live to update the encoder LEDs on my BCR2000 after changing presets. Anybody know a way to achieve this? I have a feeling it actually can't be done using Amplitube's M...

Re: Filter MIDI notes

either midi note range on the instrument rack (hit Ctrl-G to rack up impulse) or with the pitch midi effect. pitch allows you to set the range of incoming notes that it affects. it filters out or blocks all notes not in the specified range. i used midi racks with the pitch effect to create a rack th...

Clip (or project?) "Cache Mode" in addition to "RAM Mode"

I just recently recorded a rock band in Live using a lot of multi-mic setups and doing 2-3 takes for most parts for comping. The track count added up in a hurry even with somewhat bare bones instrumentation, so I started getting frequent HDD overload errors when it came time to edit. I have a dual d...

Re: real time effects monitoring

should apply to the live 8 lite version also. i believe the fundamental audio routing capabilities are the same across all versions. to monitor effects on a live audio input in real-time (as close as possible with your rig's latency), just set monitor to "in" instead of "auto".

although it would take more practice to play well, there's always chromatic mode rather than in-key mode

Re: Can I get rid of Live 8?

I timed my Live 9 upgrade with a move to a new computer, so my situation is a bit different. I still had plenty of Live 8 sets to migrate. For the most part, I've had no trouble pulling up presets for Live 8 projects when opening in Live 9, even for the sample heavy presets from Session Drums and EI...

+1. Seems that most Windows notebooks will be touch within a year or two, and I'd love to use my Lenovo P400's touch screen now!

MIDI input auto-select based on control surface

I would love if newly added MIDI tracks defaulted to only the control surface from which the track was added. For example, add a track from Push and the MIDI input is set to Push instead of All Inputs. Also, would like if we could specify one surface or another as the default for added tracks, maybe...

Computer Music distributes a monophonic version of Aalto as one of their CM Plugins. It's pretty awesome. Thanks for the heads-up on the sale for the full version.

Re: Drum layering in Live - best methods + workflow?

Some good suggestions in here. I just recently tried a workflow like leisuremuffin suggested - write/arrange with racks and extract racks for mixdown - and it worked great. I would like to add that I froze the MIDI tracks (and beat repeat effect, so it was locked in) and copied to audio tracks for m...

Re: best possible latency with live 9 and duet 2

RME all the way. Rock solid performance even on Windows 8 for me. The low latency performance of their USB driver just can't be beaten. I'm probably limited by my monitors and "control room" (basement with craptastic room dimensions) to comment on its pristine sound quality, but I don't doubt that i...

Re: MIDI question?...

which of these scenarios are you referring to? 1) a particular release time every time a particular pitch or range of pitches is played (example, C0-C1 have 5 ms release and C1-C3 have 25 ms release) 2) the release of one particular notes within a midi clip to have various release times which could ...

yeah, i hear ya on the opportunity cost aspect of pre-order. i'm thinking an electric drum kit would be a nice addition to the family until push is here.
