i love my UL, but lately i've found myself needing more inputs than it offers. might be time for an upgrade.

I found myself in the same position. I ended up getting a second UL and a Gator 2U rack bag. I mounted the ULs side by side daisychained and use the second rack space for recording snakes ...

I like the idea of dropping Bidule AU on a track and opening Zebra nested within that--see screencap. Works better for me than opening Zebra within Live, Bidule, or Logic as primary host.

I modified the master lessons file in 6 to contain links to individual set notes but it is such a hassle I don't use it. Shame because I would think this would be really useful/cool. Seems like they changed how lesson paths are handled from 5 to 6.

Once you have done that, assign all the record enables to a key on your computer keyboard to toggle them all on off. Also, enable record on launch for the scene and use scene launch to start recording.

Could someone give like a couple sentence background as to maybe the history, why they exist, what they do, why 16 steps, etc.

doesn't the EWI have a spare midi button somewhere? You could assign a button to turn the scale device on/off whenever you wanted to go chromatic for a while ?

There are up to 88 assignable spares. I would think it would be all or none, like a patch change as you suggest.

There are passing tones in the melody, so I couldn't play the melody as written with these control clips in place.

Similarly, you can't anticipate the next bar without changing the boundaries of the clips.
