Thanks Machinate, but I use Macs, so unfortunately this option isn't open to me. With so many users having to resort to third party solutions, you'd think Ableton would be onto this like white on rice.

I haven't used Live since version 2, and the ONLY reason I haven't, is because the delete key isn't MIDI assignable. I've just checked in again to see if this has been remedied, but alas, no.
There are certainly no lack of queries on this subject though.

Looking at the Live 4 features page marked "On the spot Sound Design" they say ..."Warp Markers in conjunction with the sample offset envelope can produce entirely new and exotic loops".
How the hell do they get that "buzz/roll" sound?? I've tried everything with no luck. The audio file in question ...

On a Dual 1.8 G5 I get 15% load with the old demo on Live 3.04. Pretty disappointing. On everything else, especially Logic Pro, the G5 CPU meter barely budges.
I'm still hanging out for Live 4 before Ableton get any more of my money.

Many people have requested this feature, and I couldn't believe it wasn't implemented in 3.0. This feature alone would have made me immediately purchase the latest version, but I probably won't be upgrading until it appears.

Other people have been having triggering problems. There doesn't seem to be a common thread though, except maybe Reason/rewire. Major hassle to uninstall Reason to check though.

Yeah I get similar problems (check my previous posts). It's made Live unusable for me in a live situation. I just can't track down the cause. Are you running Reason by any chance, or an Emagic interface?

Yeah, but I'm using it on live gigs, so I only have time to hit one button before it starts looping from bar 1 again. Not very interesting for the 300 people watching and analysing my every move. Thanks anyway.

• A four bar loop is set up
• A midi note trigger is assigned to the slot where the clip is to be recorded
