Re: Getting a loop library from your songs quickly

Yes, I'm on a PC using Live 6... strange. I just tried again, and dragging a clip into a folder that I create is only creating an alc file, in either view.

I'll check to see if there's anything in the settings about it, but the temp folder is working for me to get the wavs if all else fails. Thanks ...

Re: Getting a loop library from your songs quickly

Thanks to both of you. I'll def check out that tutorial, but Willyum seems to have the answer I was looking for with the cropping and dragging.

Though, if I drag them into the folder the clips only turn into .alc files.
If I save the song and try to go to the song folder through my computer, I only ...

Getting a loop library from your songs quickly

I used to be pretty proficient with Live, but I've admittedly stopped using it for some time.

I remember how to bring a song into Live, warp the song, and isolate a small (1 bar perhaps) loop in the song.

Can I now turn this loop clip into a separate, stand alone file stored somewhere on my ...

I think you guys are having trouble with the "back to arrangement" button. It's at the top middlish of the screen. When things are "grayed out" and not playing, as you mentioned, press it. That should sort you out.

I'm not much into breaks at all but a friend who is religious for the stuff swears by Meat Katie as an artist. Seek out his label I suppose.

I think I have your answer...

Go into the clip view of the particular clip you wish to affect. There should be a pull down menu there that lets you chose "clip", "mixer", or any effect you have loaded into that Track.

Choose the effect you wish to apply to that particular clip from the first pull ...

UPDATE: Ok, I've got Midi Yoke installed and running. Ableton can see the Midi Yoke channels.

I've managed to get the start, select, a and b buttons on the NES controller to trigger some messages to ableton. I can assign those buttons to anything that lights up blue when I press the midi button ...

Is there a "midi yoke for dummies" thread somewhere on this board?

I just searched around but can't find one. I must just be slow, but I can't wrap my head around how to use midi yoke. Do I need to download midi-ox too? Does one run through the other? Is there a tutorial somewhere?

*sigh*

Because I'm clueless, as stated. I was stoned and posted before thinking, forgetting momentarily that this site was more than just a message board. I have the board's address saved as a favorite and don't check the front page. I'm new.

Thanks much for the tip Frank. I'll try to think before I post ...

Me and my friend use Live 4. How do we get 6?

Do we have to upgrade to 5 first? Can we just go to a store and buy Live 6 Upgrade boxes or something?

Clueless over here, sorry.

Holding Shift and pressing Delete or Insert will also cut and paste.

Control X and Control V will also work, as mentioned above (Control D is actually Duplicate, not paste).

And holding control while dragging, as mentioned above.

And yes, all of these work in most windows programs!

Don't forget ...

If you've got Reason ReWired through Live, you should be able to just use the volume slider on the track in Live that you have Reason running through. Assign and control that slider with your Oxygen8 and record the automation of the volume in Live.

I think that should sort you out.

Oh wow, okay. That explains why I can't drag some grid markers.

So you can only drag grid markers (gray) that are to the right of your last warp marker (yellow). Dragging these grid markers changes the BPM of only the section of the grid to the right of this last marker.

Understood!
