I'm running windows xp, Intel Celeron 2.8GHZ, 1GB of Ram and enough hard drive space.

Unfortunately the room I'm recording is quite open. I generally do mostly guitar and vocals. My apt is basically like a loft, no doors, just wide open space and high ceilings.

No matter what instrument synth, I'm getting a "pulsing distortion" everytime I press a key on the axiom keyboard.
It's really annoying. I mean I can hear the original piano sounds, but there's a distortion that comes with it too and pulsates every 1 - 2 seconds along with the sound.

So Ableton for M-AUDIO comes with two instruments, impulse and simpler.
Definitely no good for elegant piano sounds.

The thing is, when I have the Output set to the Microsoft GS wavetable, I can hear the Axiom 61 just fine through my computer speakers.
It's only when I try to set it to the Presonus MIDI out (channel 1) that I can't hear anything.

I'm getting powered monitors this week (which will be hooked up to the firebox)
For now, I'm just using headphones. They are connected to the headphone out on the firebox.
Yes, the firebox is connected via firewire.
And, just in case you didn't see, the axiom is set up through USB.

The axiom 61 does have a variety of sounds, up to 128. From piano, organ, drums etc.

Anyway, I guess what I'm asking is how I use the firebox in conjunction with the Axiom in Ableton. The keyboard is hooked up through USB to the computer.

As is the case with Ableton 4.1.4, when my output is set to Microsoft GS Wavetable, there is an obvious latency problem...
But with my audio driver set to ASIO through my Presonus Firebox, I was wondering if it was possible to use the Firebox's soundcard for sound through ...

Actually to add onto that last post, is it possible to use the soundcard in Guitar Rig or the Presonus Firebox since they have ASIO soundcards built in.

I'm using the Axiom 61.
In Ableton, I'm using the MME/DirectX driver.
I'm using my soundcard as the input and output. Both of them can generate as little as 5ms each, generating a total of 10ms latency.

Is it normal to have this much delay?
