Unclear feature in Axiom documentation... align slider

I have just set up my Axiom 61 to work with Live 8.1 (Mac) -
I have a good handle on everything in the default "Axiom 49 61 Classic" control surface implementation, except -
at the bottom of p.4 of the Live lesson describing how to set up the Axiom, this cryptic comment:

"Hint: press 'Ctrl Mute' to ...

the ones in question are newscool, gaugear, limelite and rhythmmaker

I just loaded these up on my MBP 2.33 GHz, Live 6.01, builtin audio, 18 ms latency (512 samples), Energy Saver set at "Normal"

Couldn't get rhythmaker to run, seems my Elec Inst 1 files are corrupt, I loaded massive in its ...

Any way to hear MIDI notes while editing?

I've been getting into Live 4's MIDI features and it appears to share a limitation with Reason's piano roll editor that I find very frustrating: clicking on a MIDI note or dragging it to another pitch does not cause it to sound. I'm neither svelte nor obese, but I've run into this problem again and again with Euro clothing...the NI XL T-shirt I got at NAMM a few years back was ludicrously small, and when I was on tour in Germany last year I tried to pick up a few T-Shirts at a department store to avoid ...

If you can afford it, larger boom stands with weighted bases for the overheads can make your life easier. With standard boom stands you will often need to add a sandbag or brick or something to balance the base when the boom is fully extended, especially if you have large-diaphragm condensers for ...

Well at the Apple Store yesterday, I downloaded the Live 3.0 demo and installed it on a new iBook G4 800 w/ 256 RAM running Panther.

256MB is not really enough RAM for good performance in OSX, especially Panther. I bought a new 1GHz 15" G4 AlBook, and until my 1GB of RAM arrived, it struggled ...

how does Live handle the additional latency of the UAD plugins?

I have the UAD and love mixing with its plugins in Digital Performer, but it requires some workarounds to handle latency which would make it impossible to use in real-time except at extremely low buffer settings.
