And please make Live working with more than 4gb of ram, or give us an alert when we use more than 4gb to avoid the loss of the project !!!
I lost 3 project because of that !!!!!
It's a crazy issue in Live 8 !!!

Magic trackpad is just perfect !
If you're used to have a laptop, that great, and after a few time, to me it's like a control surface !
So easy to automate many parameters in a little few time....
I really love my trackpad (on iMac...)

You can do it with an ethernet link between the 2 macbook.
Simply open the utility/midi and audio, and create a midi ethernet device into both macbook, and it will appear in the midi control panel of Live, just to the sync like you would do with a drum machine and enjoy

I think there is a solution :
You need to tweak your midi gears a little.
You'll need to put the same midi CC on the same midi channel on both controllers, and then, for live, your two controllers will look like only one, just to control the function you want...

I think we have this problem because there is a control on the arm. button of each track, and it shouldn't : if the loop lenght is quantized, the fact to un arm the track stops immediatly the recording of the track.
....

Hello, $I work with a MacBook Pro and a Motu 828mk2, of course, I doesn't sound like an Apogee, but it's WORKING well !!!
Before, I used the 828 on an iBookG4, and everything was Alllllllllright !

I use this only for audio looping, it looks perfect !!!

I have the same problem as you have, I tried to do that only with ableton and a midi controller, launch preferences are on 2 bars and the problem is still here....
