Hi all.
I have a question - not realy a problem but would help me a lot on my work ;)
Is there a way to have multipe tracks open at same time? Or, if not, have at least the VST UIs of different tracks open at same time?
Trying to tune kickdrum and bass and it's quite frustrating.. click on drum ...

Re: help needed with bass drum
don't really get what you want to do to - what's worng with the drum? do want to to play longer, or what to mean with fading out quickly? If you want to pump up the drum, play the tone/sub longer. No idea how you made this kick, so also hard to say how can do this

Re: operator phasing
hmm.. not really. tried something similar once on bass synth with very short envelops that randomly produced clicks at the end. assume it was related the low frequency and short release, but didn't wanted to go up with the release so i tried to move the phase arround so that signal doesn't end with ...

Re: Kick Drum
IMHO layering is the key, EQ and compression bring the pressure afterwards, but the acoustic of the kick is mainly defined before.

Re: How precise does adsr need to between sub and bass?
are you sure that the envelops are your problem? can't imagine that a difference of a couple of ms on the env settings makes it impossible to bring the two synths together - espcially on the bass/sub-bass, where you don't really hear, but only feel most of the spectrum.

Re: Compressor Mystery for Audio geeks!
But if you are doing everything else yourself then I don't see what's so special about mastering compared to composition, performance, arrangement and mixing.
It's special in regards to the requirements. Ofc it doesn't matter if you f*ck up the mix or arrangement, the track will be crap, doesn't ...

Re: Compressor Mystery for Audio geeks!
This thread is a good example of why we adjust these things with our ears. Too easy to overthink it, and get unpredictable/undesirable results. Interesting observations and discussion, but ultimately - just use your ears.

Re: Compressor Mystery for Audio geeks!
Hey Sunray,
I am still new to this so I dont have a good grasp on the terminology. I imagine that when you say "harmonic distortion," this just translates into: "extra gain on the harmonic frequencies"?
Create a new track, put a synth and a spectrum on it.

Re: Audio Production / Mastering / Whatever articles and ebooks
I can recomend this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Audio-S ... 0240808371
You don't only get an introduction about what compressors, EQs ect. do, but also a nice bunch of background starting from where to place your monitors until why you shoudn't have a hut on while mastering xD

Re: Compressor Mystery for Audio geeks!
It's because of the fast attack and release settings.
Hard to explain without a paper to draw some wave on it but ill try.. ;D
Gain compression isn't a linear operation. Try routing a loud signal into your compressor, look at what comes out and remember the reduciton factor. Now do the same again ...

Re: Mixing songs with extreme temp differences
Be creative. Mixing doesn't mean that you always have to beat-match two tracks and do a fade. Just do some own stuff - you are using live not some oldschool turntables :D

Re: can't use automation with NI Massive
the little boxes in massive are the targets for your envelops and LFO's, nothing you can automate. it's the routing of the synth. rahter animate the parameter than the routing

Re: Bassline compression - what's the trick?
@Vios
See you are trying similar things ;D the bass itself really sounds like i want it to be, i just don't bring it into the mix so that it still keeps its push, but doesn't eat up all of the headroom.
@Vocane
Many thx for this magic vst 8O
