I'm currently working on some psytrance tracks and some of them have a "night style" theme - it's still fullon, but a harder synths and bassline.
The track sound pretty cool, however I'm working since days on the bassline now and don't relly get what I want..
What I'm trying to make is this kind of "compressed" basseline, artists like Phase (http://soundcloud.com/looney-moon-recor ... plitude-ep) use. I'm pretty close to it - the kicks come through very nice, the basse rolls behind, but I'm missing this last bit of "energy".. don't really know how to describe it
On the type of night psy i would like to make, the bassline is verry present and powerfull, but it isn't loud - just powerfull.
Played arround with compression and EQs a lot, tried different setting on the sidechain, do multiband compression ect.. but can't find the trick.. eigther the bassline is getting to loud or it loses so much dynamic with the compression that is just sound crap..
Hope someone of you can help.. what's the trick behind the "Loony Moon Records" night psy basseline? =)
Thx!
