I am trying to do the tutorial on Live for creating a drum pattern, it tells me to drag impulse to an open slot and arm the track and I should be able play drum notes on my keyboard. I hit the ASDF keys as it tells me to , and no sound, I do get the light bar to flash like ...

I tried searching the forum for this info, but returned too many results to look thru.

Can someone explain, or give a brief meaning to the following terms;
Sample
Sampling
Mixing
midi controller

I just received a Toneport UX1, which came with Live 4 & Gearbox, most of what I plan to use this for is simple home use recording tracks from my guitar and practice leads.

Can Live be used as a drum machine? Preferably I just want to select a simple drum tempo track that I can play guitar tracks ...
