no, they aren't faking it.

you can set up live to output audio to more than one channel, and send it to seperate channels on your mixer, then use the mixer to control levels and EQ.

what you can't do, is trigger clips, adjust SOFTWARE settings (like for example the EQ3), or anything like that ...

i would say, it can, or can't be DJing.. if you use it to dj, then you are. if you use it to produce, then you are.

i have tried out ableton with the cdjs, and vinyl dex, but it was a little unsatisfying at first not having the tempo sync.. my mixer even sends midi ...

nah, it's very easy mousing around, plus i have the monitor there too you can see.

because i have 4 tech12s, 2cdj1000s, over 1000 records, and hundreds of cds. i am primarily a dj and a dj mixer like the djm800 is perfect for me.

i am only looking to add a little ableton into my sets for now, trigger a few accapellas, and some FX, etc.

i wanna spend as little as possible and have it work! spent about $50 CAD and got a edirol UM-1EX it works.

i am able to send midi to ableton, i am most interested in adding a few things to a dj set, and a few FX hooked up to extra controls on the djm800 so latency shouldn't be too much problem ...

I am looking for advice from people with ableton and a djm800 to give me advice on the best way to set it all up. i haven't yet purchased a proper ASIO soundcard/midi interface.. which way would be the best to go?
