Some of my mixes done with live without warping tracks... yet!

I am trying to go harmonic in the mix, and at the moment I have a list of tunes and the keys they are in, I understand transpose will change the pitch in semitones, Is there a simple explanation to how I can go about understanding changing pitch ? for instanace if the song I am playing is in E-Major...
