Playing Ambient/Industrial/IDM sets

Hey All,

I've actually done a number of shows already, but haven't yet found "THE" way that seems quite right. I'm trying to strike a good balance between "performance" and "stability". I want to be performing it, but I don't want to overwhelm the processor and RAM. I have a MacBook Pro, 2.4 Ghz, 2 ...

Re: Bugfix update Live 8.0.4 is available!

I d/l'd the newest .5 beta. Tested it opening & playing w/ NI's Kore Player, and it didn't crash. Things are looking better, but I'm sticking to 8.0.3 for now.

Re: Bugfix update Live 8.0.4 is available!

It is possible to find a copy of 8.0.3 online. Ableton doesn't have it, and I'm sorry I don't have the link for you, but you can find it with some searching. Just re-install it, and you should be back up and running.

Back to using 8.0.3. Kore Player no longer crashing Live. Solved in the short term, anyway.

Re: Bugfix update Live 8.0.4 is available!

REALLY frustrated! I have a number of pieces using Native Instruments' Kore Player, and it crashes 8.0.4 every time. I'm trying to put together a set for a July 1st performance at a festival, and I can't do it!!! Is there a copy of 8.0.3 somewhere I can download? At least that was somewhat stable!

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions

Just checked it "real-time". The soft-fader setting changes with very little movement from the hard-fader. Maybe something that could be fixed with a firmware update later?

Is Takeover mode for the APC40 set to "Pickup"?

No. Hadn't got that far yet. Fixed now. Thanks, moodles!

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions

The faders don't effect anything, unless you move them. The problem for you maybe that the soft-fader will jump to match the hard-fader, making for some undesirable jumps and dips in your sound when performing.

However, when shifting your session view around, the hard-faders won't effect the ...

Re: APC 40 FAQs, features and questions

Do those weird wings come off? Or are they integral to the casing?

I have one and there are screws and it looks like I might be able to take em off...but I'm not going to try, they have to be there for a reason...don't they?

Haven't bothered w/ mine, but I imagine it could be rack-mounted? They ...

Yes, I am using a legit copy. Something I've been pushing myself to keep straight on these days.

Strange as it may seem, my problems have cleared up somewhat by playing around w/ the third-party plug-ins in new files, and then opening up the older .als files.

**shrug**

I don't get it, but it's ...

Unable to open Powerbook/Tiger made als on new MBPro/Leopard

Hey all,

My G4 Titanium's logicboard (running Tiger, Live 6.0.10) went bad, and was replaced by a brand new MacBook Pro running Leopard. I migrated Live, and everthing went fine reregistering. Now it crashes everytime I load a file older than December. I even tried stripping out various plug-ins ...

I spoke with a guy at Sweetwater today. He suggested making a Live Set doc with all my MIDI mapped out (on Mac, it's CMD + M), and then using that as my starting point or blank document. Then all the basics are done, and you can add more mapping for the specific set.
