I bought an Axiom 61 last week, and the sliders and programmable buttons wouldn't work, they wouldn't send MIDI to the computer, and the on-board programming wouldn't recognize fader moves. I returned it and the replacement works fine. You may have a defective unit.

Enigma is kind of a pain in the ...

I still have my Nord Micro, I use it with a Kurzweill ExpressionMate and a Peavy PC-1600, it's an awesome little synth. I originally bought it to replicate patches from my MOTM Modular for live gigs, but I kind of went in my own direction with the Micro. It kind of fell out of use when I upgraded my ...

I'm still using Live 4.0.3 here. Why? I was in the middle of a two month tour with my band when Live 5 was released, and since getting home, have felt no real need to upgrade. I use Live on my 1.8Gig P4 Thinkpad every night with the band, and it has been completely stable, the only errors I've had ...

Coming to this thread late, necause I haven't been browsing the forum as much lately, but I'm really glad to hear that all you guys are quitting smoking! The drummer in my band quit about 2 months ago, after years of a heavy duty habit, and the change is amazing. He has so much more energy now, and ...

My band has been touring a lot, we have a 95 Diesel 25 passenger shuttle bus that we've converted. We put in a power converter, and currently have 5 laptops on the bus running most of the time, there's usually 7-8 of us on the bus at a time. We're on a 2 week tour in California right now, as a ...

it does however mean that i'll speak up when i'm tired of hearing people cumming all over sasha. You don't see me posting threads about how great Hans Reichel is, and how innovative his daxophone pieces are. You don't see me positing threads about how DJ Olive is the greatest user of ableton live ...

Thanks for your response AdamJay.

As far as I can make out, MAX/MSP seems kind of Reaktor like but even more "sophisticated", or have I got that wrong?
If it is kind of similar to Reaktor, how do they compare? Which is the easier to use? The "better" sounding? Key differences etc....

I don't ...

I use Pluggo, and recently got Mode. I used to do a bunch of development in Max/MSP, but haven't upgraded my license in a few years, I don't have Max for either OSX or Windows at the moment.

I wouldn't say that any of Cycling '74's products directly compete with Reaktor. The building blocks in ...

“It’s the ultimate DJ experience.” says Sahsa - A directly attributed quote.

That's the smoking gun for me. Anyone that given over to hype... It's icky. Like I say, won't fool anyone worth fooling. Now I think I know why his music does nothing for me.

I read that as Sasha saying that the Maven ...

Nice track! I'm a big fan of Malian music. I like the fact that your electronic additions complement the traditional sound without overwhelming it, unlike a lot of electronic/traditional fusion attempts I've heard. I'd gladly buy a full album of tracks as good as this!

I'm noticing that the extreme ...

OT- Can someone recommend a recommend a RELIABLE DJ mixer?

Hi, long-time lurker, first time poster.

I play bass/keys in an avant jazz-funk band with a DJ. we play like 150 dates a year and tour all over the Northwest and West Coast (US). Our DJ has been using a Numark DJ mixer, and has had to replace the crossfader about 3 times in the last year. The last ...

Re: [OT]: let's speak about music

ok, a little break from the political talks:
let's speak about ppl's musical tastes and influences. so for 5 main musical styles, if you had to pick up only one name, what would it be, and why. the selected musical styles are:
1. classical
2. jazz
3. rock
4. electronica
5. you choose
