Re: A soundcard with no issues at all ?
i've had my echo audiofire12 for years and it has been very reliable. i have a studio owner friend who swears by his lynx aurora.

can you reproduce the problem with another controller...like a regular keyboard controller?

Re: Complement to auto filter that's low on the CPU hit
i like fabfilter volcano and sugarbytes wow2. the latter is fairly heavy on cpu but try 'em out.

i'm gonna hope that this is not their final iteration of the controller and that such an option is on the horizon.

open live set from push
hi. leaning heavily towards getting push and i can't discern from the manual whether or not you can open a live set from push. not a deal breaker but it'd be neat during one's show to not have to cmd-o on the keyboard to open a new song.

Re: questions about sampler?
1. sure. i use dsp quattro for sample rate conversion. apparently not all src is created equally.
2. in sampler, toggle the "filter/global" tab and play with "vol<vel". this will increase/decrease velocity sensitivity.
3. kinda. to simply preview, click on the .wav file (or whatever) in your ...

Re: Ideal Macbook spec for audio production
i was in the same boat as you a year or so ago. i ended up going with the fastest processor and regular amount of ram (i don't use big libraries). i couldn't be happier. i can upgrade the ram and hd if i want (no longer an option on the retina machines, i think). i consider myself pretty good to go ...

Re: How to use multiple outs within 1 drum rack ?
this is inelegant at best. most every sampler out there lets you freely route audio to wherever you want. for something that is supposed to look mpc-ish, it definitely lacks a few core functions.

Re: Ableton's sampler altering sound of sample
sample rate/system clock discrepancy? this can have an odd pitching effect, but i'm not sure it would pose a problem in ableton. i had this be an issue once with other gear in the past, but it's been so long i can't recall exactly what i was doing wrong...
at any rate (ha!), i can attest to ...

Re: Best Audio Interface for Hi Tech Gear
i can personally recommend (having used for years) echo audiofire 12. no frills, 12 balanced 1/4" i/o, midi i/o. works great on my macbook, not sure about pc.
my friend who runs a studio here in nyc swears by his lynx aurora. again, lots of i/o. also lots of dollars.

for cpu usage reasons, i try to avoid using send/return tracks in ableton. there are other ways to get your audio where it needs to be.

Re: Akai Pad Quality = Complete Garbage
mpk/mpd pad quality is questionable at best. however, the mpc4000 pads are great. my friend's mpc60 pads are even better. i did not care for the pads on the mpc5000. so, it could be said akai spans the range from unusable to standard-setting.

Re: QUESTION ON MIDI CLOCK - TEMPO
for clarity's sake, bear in mind that midi clock sync is a master-slave arrangement (not handshake as your post implies). if your traktor S4 is set to master (or is simply outputting midi clock) and ableton live is set to slave AND you're getting midi clock info at ableton AND you have "EXT" turned ...
