Re: Hoping not to be the same old switching songs live question

Joel, You're right - DMXIS zeroes all 512 DMX channels when it is first opened, so yes, it would play havoc with your stage lights between songs. BUT... if you can't find a solution using Live 8 setlists or whatnot, I can probably remove this behaviour - so that the DMXIS hardware interface "ho...

Re: DMXIS lighting control software - beta testing

Does the DMXIS hardware unit have any advantages over the Enttec DMX usb pro? The DMXIS hardware has a 1/4" footswitch input, which lets you use any standard footswitch (single or dual non-latching) to control banks & presets on-stage. It has both 3 and 5 pin DMX outputs, which saves you h...

Re: midi lighting from ableton

If you just want to drive a couple of regular lamps using Live MIDI clips (like the YouTube video above) grab one of these and stick a MIDI cable into it. If you want to control some DMX lights (LED spots, intelligent scanners, moonflowers etc) then use something like DMXIS - it's a VST/AU plugin th...

Re: DMXIS lighting control software - beta testing

Thanks chaps, it did feel really good to get this one released. It was a long, slow burner of a project, partly because it grew into a hardware development as well! For anyone who's still interested, Enttec are now shipping DMXIS. You can watch some training videos of it in action here... http://www...

Re: DMXIS lighting control software - beta testing

Well, it feels nice to resurrect this old thread with some closure :) http://www.enttec.com/dmxis My sincere thanks to everyone here who responded to my original call for help. In the end, DMXIS was almost entirely beta tested by contributors to this forum and the Harmony Central lighting forum, and...

Lighting is just as visual as a movie and therefor the software should have that. You should have a virtual room or stage where you can graphically put your fixtures and program your show and watch your show on your monitor and sync it all to an audio track just like what you would do for movie edi...

Re: DMXUSBPro & MaxMSP...translate midi to DMX....I am lost

Hi Jeremy, You might find some helpful pointers over at the Cycling '74 forums... I'm not familiar with MaxMSP, but this looked like a possible starting point... http://www.cycling74.com/forums/index.php?t=msg&goto=132175&rid=0&srch=Enttec#msg_132175 I wish DMXIS would just hurry up and ...

Hi Julien, Search this forum for "DMX", and you'll find lots of messages from a chap called "hambone". He's an expert in using MIDI-DMX interfaces to control lighting rigs from within Ableton - I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help you. There are also a couple of upcoming DMX...

MIDI-DMX interface boxes are the "lowest level" way to control a DMX lighting rig from Live. You basically use MIDI CC curves, clips & automation to control the DMX lighting channels one by one. It's perhaps not the most efficient way to program a light show, but Hambone - the resident...

MIDI-DMX boxes are great if you like getting your hands dirty with MIDI controllers. But they only provide low level control over the lights - you need to patch your DMX equipment manually, and build your own library of CC curves & special effects from scratch. It can be difficult if not impossi...

Signed up. Haven't heard anything yet. Wonna test this on my mac with some RGB's and scanners. Sorry, I don't see an email or PM from you. Please resend, thanks. Are you guys doing anything with LED's? That's a very broad question :). What specifically are you thinking of? Regards, Dave db audioware

You are mistaken though, DMX is 250k/sec. 512 channels * 8 bit's is about 4000k just to send 512 commands. Multiply that by a decent frame rate (say 40 frames a second). I was talking in kbytes/sec, you're talking kbit/sec. This is getting way off topic, but just to reassure you that I know the num...

Hi guys, Thanks to everyone who has responded so far, we'll get back to you with more details of the DMXIS beta testing program soon. I forgot to mention an important fact - unlike most lighting software, DMXIS supports both Windows and OS X Universal. We need beta testers on both platforms, so if y...

Looks like I might have competition. Best of luck And the same to you :D I hope you not using Velleman DMX interface because it's not good. It only uses HID(Human interface Driver) to connect to usb, as such the latency for 512 channels is about 2 seconds. So you can't move all your lights at same ...
