Re: Help with Shure SM57
No I wasn't feeding it 48v, it was on the exact same setting for both mics. I'm not too sure what mic it is, it's just some old cheap mic I found that I just used to test if it works.
I'll have to try a XLR to XLR cable.

Re: Help with Shure SM57
Doesn't the 2i2 have an xlr input? No need for using a 1/4 converter if it does. Go xlr to xlr whenever possible. Though maybe I just misunderstood you.
Are you getting any signal at all, including noise? Try adjusting the gain, and make sure your input settings on the interface and in Ableton ...

Help with Shure SM57
Just bought a brand new Shure SM57 and I'm connecting it through an XLR to 1/4 jack into a scarlett 2i2 and then using ableton but I'm getting nothing, no sound whatsoever. I then plugged it into an amp to try and again nothing.
Is this just a broken sm57 or am I doing something wrong here?

Re: Ableton Live 9 and Machine 2
Possibly poor wording, but the sound is always going to come out of Maschine. I assume you are using it as a plugin and not standalone and want individual pads going to their own Live track? I’m by no means a Maschine routing expert, but I believe first you have to go into Maschine and for each pad ...

Ableton Live 9 and Machine 2
I've recently purchased a Maschine mk2, having just completed a track in machine I was hoping to be able to carry that track over into ableton in MIDI form in order to further mix and master and edit automations. Having difficulty finding any info or tutorials on this sort of thing. Seen a lot on ...

First Studio Monitors
I'm after a budget set of monitors for my first set up. Just bought a maschine mk2 and purchasing a new laptop so limited in terms of spending money on these. Would the following be ok for producing house/tech house/techno, wasn't sure how they deal with low end frequencies.

Re: Advice on new laptop
Cheers for the advice guys!
Think I'm going to go with a 13" macbook pro with the 512gb Hard drive as what I use currently is pretty basic.
My only other worry is will the 13" screen be too small? I suppose there is always the option of plugging it into a monitor at home.

Advice on new laptop
I'm at the point where I need a new laptop, Would this macbook pro be fine for running ableton, a maschine mk2 and an akai mini mpk.
I don't use a lot of plug ins no have large sample libraries, I usually have ableton live, maschine, and massive running at the same time.
Would this be powerful ...

Re: Moving forward
I am not sure what plug-ins you have but I would find a new sound to start bringing in to the mix. I would also add some rolling basslines (not sub sine wave stuff) and modulate the hell out of it. You could also change the pad halfway through (or add another), maybe make it sweep (pan) then mess ...

Moving forward
I've recently started learning to make music with ableton and was after some advice and feedback on my first track I'm working on. I'm into my tech/tech house music mainly and that's the sort of sound I've been going for.

Vocal Sampling
Is there anyway for me to extract the vocals out of a track, preferably this track http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7mHw0HSZ-Qc
I have tried audacity to remove vocals but couldn't cut enough of the background noise out. Are the any other methods that can be used?

I'm trying to replicate this sound that's used in the build up, it's clear at around 2:40 in the link.

Transposing Vocals and Sampler
I just transposed and Audio clip of a vocal to exactly how I want it but I also want to use the same transposed audio clip in sampler or sampler. How would I go about doing this? Would I have to transpose the vocal in simpler some how or is there I way I can use the audio clip I've already ...
