almost been a month since I got mine...crazy how time flys

I just had a warm welcome with live 8 suite the to other night...Looks like my mpc4000 will be looking for a new home within next few weeks

Is there specific audio channel output for live I'm not aware of ?


Basically I'm trying route channels 17&18 out of PC/ableton to my digital mixer's inputs 17&18 purely for monitoring purposes. But I get no audio coming out of Live.

I get audio from battery rewired in live just fine, same goes ...

probably guru, or live 7 when it comes out

I got couple of samplers to unload, particularly mpc 2500 and mpc 4000. Take your pick

what you basically doing right now is recording all midi data from guru into ableton's single midi track. rather than creating new track and seperate midi channel for every part incoming from guru.


and you'd have the same problem in logic if you dont know how to properly assign tracks and midi ...

seems there is more excitement coming from him when he talks about the new "mind blowing logo" than new features. which actually worries me a little.

I'm dying to find out more about Live 7. Wether or not I move to Logic may depend on what is on offer in Live 7, and I'm sure I'm not the only one in that situation.

stay away from vista, for at least another 6mo or more

I'm eager to see what Live 7 has to offer. I'm hoping to see sampler and operator as part of the upgrade. Considering fully blown logic 8 costs $500 with about 64 GB of content. It comes out to that Live 7 should be a free update to Live 6 users.

maybe it has something to do with one of the improvments in 6.09

Mpc probably is closest thing to Ableton. But it's main purpose is to serve as drum machine and phrase sampler rather than melodic instrument.

Even if you got an MPC you still need a keyboard, or at least midi controller to lay down melodies.

You should be looking at synth workstation like triton ...
