Please just read that.
You don't have to trust me, or trust the fact that I actually studied music theory, but I think Wikipedia is quite an authority you can trust, specially regarding something so simple...

Saving projects in Live 10 - What's the best way ?

Hi there While cleaning one of my project in Live, I wanted to check few things regarding file handling, and I felt on the official Ableton help page here : https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000915804-Saving-Projects On thing puzzled me. They say there that " Each Live Set you create sho...

Re: Ableton's metronome is just broken.

Hi Ezble Sorry to contradict you, but 4/4 and 4/8 doesn't sound the same at all and Live reacts correctly. First digit is the number of beats in a bar, second digit is the value of the beat. So 4/8 is 2 times quicker than 4/4. Why would you think 4/4 and 4/8 sound the same ? What would be the purpos...

Re: Does Live use Metal on macOS?

It seems that the last beta of Live (Live 10.1.25b1) is using Metal for UI rendering. Actually I don't know exactly what it means, but I hope it will solve some graphic problems I've got with Live on my mid-2012 macbook pro. To me, it seems Live uses a lot of power from my GPU and it doesn't help wi...

Re: Avoiding third party plugin crashes during performances

I'm using Live on stage since many years, using many third party plugins (Kontakt and Native Instruments stuff, U-He, Soundtoys, etc. etc.) and I never had any crash during a show. I use a macbook pro, mid-2012 version with an i7 processor, SSD and 16gb of ram. It starts to show its age, but it's st...

Re: Macbook Pro 2019 16 inch fan noise with Ableton

I use an old mid-2012 macbook pro, running an i7 on Mojave. It can become quite hot and fan can spin loudly on heavy sessions (and I know it comes mainly from the graphic card, not only from the CPU), but with 2 or 3 plugins and running Live for some time (for exemple playing some exercices on my ke...

Re: Weird Macbook Pro CPU overloads

Hi there Maybe the problem is Live 10, not Mac OS. But the problem may be easy to fix : just try to run Diva turning off the multicore option in the Diva settings. I noticed that Live 10 manages multicore differently than Live 9, and with the U-he synths it works better when the multicore option is ...

Re: What's with the crashes?

I'm using Live 10 Suite, and I've got crashes from time to time. My sets are pretty heavy regarding CPU use, and I noticed it's related to it : when I'm often experiencing lags and CPU pops/clicks (i.e. when the CPU meter shows more than 80/90 %), Live can crash unexpectedly (quite often while closi...

Re: Chain Selector passes midi cc information...why??

Any news regarding the op problem ? I’m in the same situation and while using cc to control vsti (no mapping in live) theses cc are not filtered by the optional « filter midi Ctrl » in the chain selector

Re: Sending MIDI CC to active chain only?

Thanks for the advice, but the blue hand limitation is very problematic, specially when you use 2 or more keyboards/controllers (in a live context with 2 or more player) : then you need 2 blue hands and that’s not possible... it’s crazy the midi ctrl filter in chain selector doesn’t work in this sit...

Re: Sending MIDI CC to active chain only?

I'm interested about that too...

It's crazy the "chain selector filters MIDI ctrl" doesn't do nothing : it doesn't make any sense the CC messages are not filtered and are feeding all the chains... For live controling a specific device when you've got many vsti in a rack, it's a pain in the ass...

Re: Live 9 on mac - Help me read the crash logs

yep, for me too it was strange to hear I've got too many versions under the same folder, because I can't imagine not to record a dozen versions (at least) of each project. On my most used Live set at the moment (on which I had quite often some problems), I have around 22 different versions but the s...
