Re: Automation changes after export

I had the same issue with SoundToys plugins recently. Found the simple fix with help from their customer support - make sure your project sample rate is equal to or greater than your export sample rate. For example:

Project sample rate (Preferences->Audio->In/Out Sample Rate) = 44,100
Export ...

Re: multiple exports of the same live set sounds different

I have been frustrated by even an update to a VST that caused a slight difference to how something worked. Omnisphere was one where I had a few LFOs working on echos and other aspects but after an update from Omnisphere 1 to Omnisphere 2 I open that old track (to try and finish it off again) and ...

Re: multiple exports of the same live set sounds different

When I'm making a track that has random/free-flowing elements I'm always very careful about when to "freeze-dry" something. For works in progress, I like to keep things like Beat Repeats running free up until the time I render my first ruffmix. At that point I freeze or print the track(s) in ...

Re: multiple exports of the same live set sounds different

I think everyone is right to say there is some kind of random LFO/modulation that is happening on specific patches, that causes it to sound different each time I export the song. Unfortunately I'm unable to locate where those modulations originate. It's possible they're buried somewhere within the ...

Re: multiple exports of the same live set sounds different

Thanks for all the replies! This is now beginning to make sense to me! Does anyone know if you can "reset" the dynamic properties so that each time the song starts, the dynamic random nuances happen in the same spots throughout the song? I guess freezing/flatten those specific instruments, would be ...

Re: multiple exports of the same live set sounds different

pottering, thanks for responding. That is interesting. Does anyone have any advice to have a midi-instrument play consistently each time? I've taken a midi-pad sound, duplicated it twice, and froze it on 2 lanes for comparison. There is a huge difference in the wave file. Even though each note is ...

multiple exports of the same live set sounds different

I've taken the same live set, and exported it multiple times, using the same settings each time, and I've found the final rendered files to sound different from each other. To test it out, I've take the files and re-import them into to Ableton and you can see visually see a difference in the ...

storing files - sound library & external drives

How do you store your files? Do you keep your sample libraries with your Live Library on your Mac, or do you place your sample libraries on an external harddrive? Do you keep your Live Project Folders on your Mac, or place on a separate external harddrive? Or does streaming samples/projects from an ...

AIF versus WAV versus MP3 - importing samples

Hello! I am new to Ableton Live. When creating and building your library of samples, do you prefer importing .aif, .wav or .mp3 files? Or does it matter? Can you mix them? Do you like to keep your samples on your computer or on an external hard drive? Any advice on building, storing and ...

ABLETON and ReCycle?

I'm new to Ableton Live and dabbling with creating my own loops/samples. Anyone like using the software ReCycle to create their initial loops/samples/rex files? Or does everyone like doing their splicing in Ableton Live? I'm wondering if ReCycle is a good investment and will complement Live, or if I ...

1 file with 3 loops - edit?

Hello! I have one wave file containing 3 different drum loops that don't start/stop in time within the file. It's one file with 3 different drum patterns that have different length of silence between the patterns. When I import the wave file into Ableton, I feel like it's assuming it's 1 clip (not 3 ...
