These threads always end up the same haha.
I run Live on my main PC at home, but i also have a macbook pro - both are great and will get the job done. I actually prefer using the PC but it's what I grew up with and its just my preference.
Get what you can afford.
If yer heart is set on a mac then ...

Live 8 Beta

Hey all. Just wondering how the beta releases normally work?
Presumably only a certain amount of users will be getting it - just curious to how this is decided.
Thanks in advance.

I ended up conacting Ableton support directly - they recommended I try reinstalling the drum machines. Which didn't work at first.
But - on the third attempt - everything worked perfectly!
Your problem sounds a little more serious - I would recommend completely uninstalling Live - rebooting your ...

Drum Machines - missing samples?

Having a bit of trouble with the Ableton Drum Machines.
Bought Drum Machines, downloaded and installed each of the packs.
Most of the stuff works fine. The 606 for example is working perfectly.
You can drag a whole kit to a new midi file and all the sounds work correctly.
However, I'm having ...

Hey chief.

Not sure what you really mean but mp3's are compressed files.
They can be edited in that you can edit the entire file.
But as far as cuttin "it up into its different instruments on live" -
no, this is not possible.
Not using Live or any other program I'm aware of.

As Jorg said, MIDI isn't sound - did you read the manual and go through the Lessons that come with Live 6?
The vast majority of what you need is there.

Live Crashes w/DFH and Amplitube 2

Hi all,
Great forum.
I've encountered some problems while running Toontrack's DFH alongside Amplitube 2.
The DFH is using about 612 MB RAM with the set up I have.
I also have 2 or 3 guitar tracks and usually a bass track (all of which have Amplitube 2 plug ins running on them).
It usually works ...
