Does anybody know if its possible to combine select and velocity in a set of drum multsamples?
i.e I have a snare multisample that is mapped across the zones 1-127 depending on how hard i hit the pad.
Can I then add several more different sounding snare multi samples that are mapped across the ...

loop button in the midi editor
Im hoping someone can explain the intent of the loop button in the midi editor - in arrange view. It seems to me that the one thing it doesnt do is loop. If loop isnt enabled in the arrange view and loop is set in the editor - the 2 bar ( for example) midi clip I have in the editor doesnt loop. i.e ...

Re: why doesn't the editor marker align to the arrange marker?
I totally agree that the issue you raise is a flaw in Ableton. I have raised it both this forum and to support. Its fundamental I think that the option should exist to make the clip view play from the same place in the song that you arrange marker is. The maths is simple to code.

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
I did try to disable warping in preferences. You cant turn off short samples - what ever they are. And you cant turn off midi stretching.
I agree with you that Ableton is first a fore most a package that has an arrange window expecting it to be used the way you describe.

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
Thankyou for your responses, and I do take the point and apologise about the tone of my message. You are quite correct.
I have tried to discus some of these points with Support - but the response is fairly short - and just read the manual.

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
yeah thats correct. Its fine if thats what you want. But I dont want them - and they wont go away permanently.
I wish Ableton would not basically default to warping/midi stretch. Its fine if you want to drop in loops etc - but its not if you are playing stuff into the track(s).

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
Thanks for replying - Sorry to differ but the midi editor does have warp markers. If you select an area warp markers appear.
And yes changes to clips in either session view or the other way round dont transfer - you have to copy your clip across.

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
is there supposed to be some other way of working in arrange? AS far as I can tell - these two markers ( blue and green) along with the warp markers make the workflow pretty clumsy.

Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
I think the arrange window is awful to edit in - here is what happens trying to edit a midi track:
First up: Arrange window has two markers - Song start marker ( green) and Arrange insert maker ( blue). They claim that the song will start from the insert marker that you can set by clicking anywhere ...

Session drums combined samples
Anybody else using the session drums pack that Ableton sells? I want to use the kits that have the combined samples that represent the range of velocities ( loudness of hits) It comes as a single aif file with each sample represented by a 'range' in the zones ( using sampler). So each aif file may ...

Re: Setting up a better timeline and navigation
Oh yes I get your point about the piano roll - I think your buggered really - good point though. Abletons midi editor is pretty basic I think. It would be good to allow you to fold over the notes you choose not just the notes you have used.

Re: Setting up a better timeline and navigation
Hi, I agree with two of your points here - the midi time line is not clear - both with the way it describes beats and also with where the bar lines are at. I have tried to do more or less what you propose but it cant be done. yes the beats nomenclature is daft and you cant make the grid bolder.

Re: Multisample drum hits with different velocities
Thanks for replying but that wasnt what I wanted. I have a drum sample that has multiple hits in it- representing different velocities. I want to break the single sample into a lot of single drum hits that are triggered depending on velocity. I do think I have a way though. I simply duplicate the ...

Multisample drum hits with different velocities
I have session drum samples that come as multi samples - different samples for different velocities - I can see the different samples in sampler ( one after the other) - say for a single drum in the drum rack - but in the zones it only shows one sample - not all the different hits - anybody know how ...
