DO NOT set your Ableton thread to Realtime.
It's not where the problem lies, and you could lock up your system. You'd then have to hard reset, losing any work in progress.
My system works absolutely fine with no audio pops or glitches - without altering thread priorities.

Re: Frustration with Performance/Features
I've only really skimmed the thread but two things stand out:
1 - ASIO drivers: they can be multi-client (like my RME audio interface) or single-client. This is why, when you set an ASIO device as the default in Windows, you can only hear one source at a time - unless your ASIO driver is multi ...

Re: Plugin Window Management
Yeah, doesn't do anything other than turn the icon grey. Shame, as it would be very useful to be able to see multiple VSTs at once (just like all the other DAWs).
Ctrl-Alt-P also doesn't work properly, unless you've already clicked the spanner with the mouse (i.e. it only closes plugins initially).

Re: Crackling sound issue
Need a few details first please.
OS?
Machine details - laptop, desktop, other?
Separate sound card or built-in?
Other hardware (e.g. USB microphone etc.)

Thanks for responding and sorry I missed your reply.
I don't have any _updated or .old folders.
I'll see what happens next update.

Re: MIDI 2.0 support ?
I'm looking into getting a new MIDI keyboard, and there are new MIDI 2.0 ones on the market, e.g. Korg Keystage, NI Kontrol S-series Mk3 units, plus the older Roland A88 Mk2.
Does anyone know when Ableton will support MIDI 2.0? I believe Bitwig and Cubase already do (although perhaps in limited ...

I have Ableton installed in the \ProgramData folder and Automatic Updates have never worked.
I get a notification in the info bar, click update, get a message 'You'll be informed when the update is ready....'

Did you find a solution to this problem? I was about to buy an FCB1010...
Thanks!

Re: Live 12 reference manual DISCONTINUED BOOOOOO
I have to agree. It's nice to have a PDF manual open alongside DAW software (e.g. Reaper, Cubase).
That way I can do DAW stuff while offline.
Maybe there's a way to save the online manual away for offline use?

Re: Live 12 - VSTs crash the software
Sounds like there's a problematic VST in there.
Might be a long job, but you could move them all out, then put them back in one by one until it crashes again. Then you'd know the first culprit. Remove that one and continue with the others, until you have all the working ones in there.

Re: Ableton 12 Stability on PC - AMD Platform
Interesting. I have an AMD 5900X/X570 machine and haven't ever had a crash, through Live 10 and 11. Haven't had one in 12 either yet, but it's early days.

Re: Ableton arrangement window is a MESS
I wish that changes made to clips in Session mode would update those used in the arrangement view.
I have to go in and manually replace the parts of the arrangement that have been updated - unless I've missed something?
