Could you enable the Place column?
If these devices are in the User Library (or a custom folder located under Places), it indicates that the library contains presets that utilize these devices. That's why the devices appear in the list. If you remove the presets, the devices will disappear.

Currently you can kind of simulate this feature by using the new "Add Label" feature that was added in Live 12.0 and which now works even better with Live 12.2's ability to change label icons. You can also use the colored "Collections" for a simpler solutions, that should work with Live 10 and newer ...

Here are some images from my PC with Live 12.1.1 and all the legacy effects in the Audio Effects label:

Those became legacy when the new combined versions were introduced many moons ago (so not just since 12.2).
I checked on another PC that still has Live 12.1, and all the legacy effects show up in the Audio Effects label/tab, even though they are located in the Legacy folder. So Ableton seemingly ...

Edit: I had a misunderstanding, these effects have been legacy effects and out of the Audio Effects label for a while now...

Ableton really needs this, there's a ton of stuff I've always wanted to do with a macro curve in Ableton's native effect rack macros.

Use the | symbol for a subcategory like this: Lead|Hyper Saw

I also found out, that you can't currently do more than one level of nesting, which is a bit of a bummer...

I believe in the warp modes, Re-Pitch actually keeps a singular pitch in Simpler. I like to do this for sampled clicks or depth kicks so that I do not have to re-draw MIDI.

Yes, and all user made racks and presets should keep their color, when you save them and then open them up in another project.

I'm a big fan of organizing, so I would benefit from something like this a lot. I actually currently have 1 collection empty, because I I'm afraid of hitting the limit, and probably will have to do that pretty soon. And yeah, it doesn't have to specifically be these color coded collections ...
