thanks for the hint invol; found the context menu and the PLAY button will start from that point, thats helpful. I searched for that feature to set the bars or time from the beginning o fthe song so it's disayed on my Mackie MCU which is not influenced by setting the songstart - thanks anyway!

just in case you longer need it:

Had the same issue, was anotehr program which had opened the Midi programming interface for the FW-1082, so Ableton Live wasn't able to open it. Which was shown in the settings page by an orange color<g>.

When I try to deinstall the Packs via pref, i.e. "Session Drums MIDI Grooves" or "Session Drums Expansion" my Live-after-eight tells they can't be deleted because some files are in use!?

Control Surface 1: Mackie Control, input/output are set to fw1082 control, and remote is set to ON
