Why not make an instrument rack as the first item in your chain, and map the 8 macro knobs to the parameters you want to control. That way, when you select a track, the blue hand is automatically on the instrument or effect rack and you can just start turning knobs and control only the parameters ...

Well, guess I sorted it out after a couple of hours. Apparently "Configure" works as long as I go to the "Auto" tab in Kontakt, choose a host parameter and drag it to what I want to affect. Phew!

It's not that big a deal. My way to do this would actually be, as S4racen suggested, to use Multiband Compressor. Put that on Return track A and solo out the Frequency band you want to play around with ...
