"you ain't got a thing if it ain't got that swing"

it's a shame that the mpc 1000 is not fully integrated usb wise like it's big brother the mpc 4000. it would be nice to be able to access the mpc directly from the computer instead of having to puit everything to the card then onwards to the mpc1k ...

sorry, it's UK law.

they're not acquired from p2p, they're bought on cd. but for mixing purposes (traktor, live, etc) i transfer them to mp3 on my laptop hard drive.

but according to PRS, that is an infringement of copyright and illegal.

i may have missed something important that's why i'vve ...

What is the legal position with mp3s on your h/d?

http://www.mcps.co.uk/anti-piracy/

it's strange, i always assumed you could copy your cds to mp3, store them on your h/d for playing out on your laptop or whatever.

according to the Performing Rights Society where you obtain a licence to play music, it states you can play from the original cd but ...

MP3 supported by Live 4?

just wondered as live 4 seems to be taken on board by some of the DJ fraternity. and as DJs are moving towards mp3 and other digital formats.

the new prodigy album tracks all seem to go round and round in circles withour ever taking off.

extremely dissapointing.

liam either needs his w30 back or he needs keith and maxim in the studio jamming with him. if they all nod together then it's probably a decent track.

Just cos the discussion is stupid doesn't mean we shouldn't be having it ;)

What I'm dying to know, however, seeing as I'm on old Prodigy fan (my first love!), is - are the tunes any good? Ah. Never mind. I'm getting it either way!

i'm an old prodigy fan too and i have been severely ...

whatever he last used..it was not that great

with regards to his new album i absolutely agree too. i think he was either under too much pressure (but he's had enough time) from the record company to perform, or that the breaks scene has overtaken the prodigy and alot of breaks guys are doing it ...

i reckon Sasha and many others may go down the live performace route. reason being is djs are finally being sussed for what they are. no more than a glorified shuffle system on an mp3 player with beat match software.

and we have always paid top dollar for these beings who in turn charge 'superclubs ...

all they are showing you is how to use the program, the source material is up to you. no one is forcing you to drag anything from a sample cd. ever buy a tutorial book for something like Photoshop or similar? they have you fucking with pictures of ducks and boats and adding cheezy words with wack ...

How to jam with a vocalist?

Well i'm involved with a vocalist and a turntabalist (heh, yes, not a dj).

i've bought a small mixer (compact 4) for this and wondered what the best way to set this up is. any help appreciated.

i've thought about this but i want it all on seperate tracks and also be able to jam.

tbh, i don't think having preset demos to download in whichever style you want would be bad. when i started out it was nice to have presets in drum machines so you could understand the patterns better (actually not true, first drum machine was a dmx but you get the idea, i've nothing against presets ...
