Re: The OSX Lion Early Adopter Whiners' Depot

Funny, I didn't know about Ableton's announcement about Lion. I just got a new MacBook Pro with Lion installed and migrated all my stuff to it. Live 8.2.2 seems to be working fine. But all the Max For Live plug ins are disabled. Frankly I didn't even know that the machine would have Lion, and I didn ...

Re: Faster way to load the next set?

Why don't you make one live set for your performance?
Each song(set) has unique instruments, tempo, track/effects assignments, assignments of mixer sliders, knobs and pedals. And each set is usually undergoing continued modification... so it seems like I would have to really nail down everything ...

Faster way to load the next set?

I'm using Live to prepare a live solo show. I finish performing a set then load the next... it takes time, eh? IS there a faster, or an automated way to load and launch the next set, other than dragging down the file menu to find it under "recent set"? Maybe a MAX thingy?

Re: Midi delay?

Weird indeed - what plug-ins do you have in this bad session? And how big is the session?
I've been troubleshooting by running this session with and without certain parts and/or effects. I had two instances of Tone 2 reverb running different effects on aux 1 adn 2. Removed one of them and don't ...

Re: Midi delay?

Starting with a new session, midi response time from the keyboard is fine. In all my other sessions it's also fine. It's only this one particular session. Once it has been opened and played - then the response time from playing the keyboard is slightly delayed. If I close this bad session and open ...

Midi delay?

Black MacBook Core Duo, Live 8.2.1, Axiom 49
I have this one session, created in Live 7, now saved as a Live 8 session. Trying to add a new part. Problem is, once I play the session through and then stop... suddenly the input from the Axiom keyboard becomes slightly delayed, so can't be played in ...

Re: Fan runs a lot on MacBook

Maybe what we have shown is that you have a macbook issue not a Live one?
Thanks for taking the time to run the test and offer these links. I think you are right... something is amiss with the Mac. I will poke around the Apple forums to see what I can find out. And thanks to the other helpful ...

Re: Fan runs a lot on MacBook

If you want to keep on with this pick a demo you do have and I'll give it a go.
Thanks for the offer. It would be interesting to compare. I found a demo called "APC20" - it's in the SETS folder in the LESSONS folder with my Live 7.0.1 stuff. Possibly you have that one.

When I play that I get 9 ...

Re: Fan runs a lot on MacBook

Did you try it without your audio interface connected? Running the 1969 demo by Jethro I get 20 / 22% each CPU and 13% in Live. Thats on a 3yr old macbook Core2Duo with 2Gb but without any audio i/f connected. Thats with mail and safari running too. I would normally only get the fans kicking in at ...

Re: Fan runs a lot on MacBook

Increased buffer to 512. Same issue. Fan wants to run whenever Live is running. For example, I opened a Session that has 3 tracks of midi and no plug ins. Just using EIC instruments. Fan comes on after playing Session for about 2 minutes. Stays on while Live is open. CPU usage runs between %23 and ...

Re: Fan runs a lot on MacBook

What plug-ins are you running? Also, if you're recording in, what is the buffer setting? What kind of sound card/interface are you using?
Quick response! Thanks.
On this particular session today:
Plug ins running are B4 organ, Lounge Lizard keys, and Tone2 filterbank. Also using Session Drums and ...

Fan runs a lot on MacBook

I'm running Live 8.2 on a black MacBook...2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM. When I'm running Live... the fan comes on and stays on most of the time. Lots of CPU usage shows in the activity monitor. It's loud and is picked up by my vocal mic... not a big deal... but just wondered if I am maxing out this ...

Driver Compensation and Alesis io2

Okay, Alesis io2, purchased as a re-furb. Silly me. Maybe. In setting the driver error compensation, I do the wonderful procedure from the Live Lessons. Great. I get an offset of, say, 16ms and set that preference. Then check it. Nope, no good, and now the offset is 64ms. So I set it to THAT and ...

I use this unit with a Mac Book Intel and Leopard and have no problems with the audio interface side. However, the MIDI I/O has bugs and is unusable.
