Re: Missing Media Files - Searching

I think my issue is that Ableton has found the correct files but they are just in a list? Ableton doesn't make any attempt to fill in the blank samples in the project with what its found??? i have the folder in question in the Ableton > places list at the sidebar also? Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Missing Media Files - Searching

Backing up a lot of older projects which I know the samples etc are on the connected drive. I load the .als and it says 'missing files', I use the Automatic Search bar at the side, and set the Search Folder to be the Drive and folder where all the samples reside. The I get "39 Candidates found" so t...

Quickest way to Save All & Collect?

Ok so just backing up a lot of Ableton Projects that were only saved as .als Whats the quickest way to SAVE AND COLLECT all the samples and .als to a newer 3TB drive so they are all backed up? I load the .als and all the samples appear (from various drives etc). Do I SAVE firstly to my 3TB drive lik...

Re: Deleting unused Audio?

Or, don't save the song. I believe in that case I believe it will ask you if you want to keep the files. Right, so I can just open, not save a session or .als and record, edit some audio, but if its crap, i can close the program down, knowing I will lose it forever which is fine. In which case Able...

Re: Deleting unused Audio?

Great jestermgee, but do i need to do this just before shut down each time?

I am thinking of the times when I just open Ableton to record some audio, and not create a Set or session.

Where exactly does the audio I discard, and want to keep live? :)

Deleting unused Audio?

Can Ableton Live record destructively, so that if I record audio, and don't want to keep it at all, (or any reference) that on close, that audio is gone forever, and doesn't take up any HD space? Many 2-track editors do this, and unless you 'save' it, you can record, and quit the program knowing tha...

Nudge clips with keys?

I am doing some intricate editing on the Ableton Live 9.7.7 timeline, and wondered if I can nudge clips by grid amounts, with a key command? I have to push and pull audio back and forth against other tracks, and its very time consuming doing this with the mouse/zooming in. It would be great to split...

Stop Sampler 'clicking' with crossfades?

I like to use SAMPLER with long chords, and loop and highlight a section within the sample. I put the longest crossfade on, and hit the RAM button to put the sample in RAM for quicker access time as I like to "scrub" through the sample randomly to come up with different loops and textures (I also ad...

Re: Megamixes - Warping older tracks, staying in time?

Right so you mean like this : https://youtu.be/r5Cs7Y7KbiA So if I have one track that is the master tempo, it means I can put a loop underneath and the loop follows all the tiny movements in the tempo which is good for back-beating a 'wobbly' live track. But what about when I mix into the 2nd track...

Re: Megamixes - Warping older tracks, staying in time?

thank you Angstrom! This is interesting! So is it saying that you only need to warp one 'leader' track, really well? and the others follow? (I haven't personally heard of this setting tbh) Do you know of any real world examples of this or youtube videos to explain what it means? as this sounds like ...

Megamixes - Warping older tracks, staying in time?

So I've been an Ableton user for a few years and love it. Still on 9.7.7 on Mac. I am looking at doing some old school Megamixes especially disco and funk from the 70's and early 80's and as we all know (that million dollar question) they are not locked to a metronome, as they drift due to live drum...

Slice Markers forgotten??

I'm using Live 9.7.7 and use Simpler with its Slice feature a lot. However when I put a sample into Simpler, and slice, (slice by beat) at say 1/4 division with NO warp, as I like getting unusual loops. I then move only the start marker (so the other slices move accordingly), then save the project, ...

Acer Aspire 5742 i3 Ableton 10?

I am just about to take stock of an older Windows 10 64-bit, Acer Aspire 5742 i3 processor, 8GB and 500GB HD. Does anyone know if this is good enough to run Ableton 10 with a small to medium session (mostly audio samples, and not VST's)? I am thinking of putting a 2nd SSD inside as a boot up drive, ...

Re: Core 2 duo laptop for Live 10?

Well, core 2 duo is the absolute minimum and that's what you have. Install the demo and let us know. Don't expect it to run like a charm though. One solution would be to find a second-hand copy of say Live 8 or 7 which surely would run better on an older machine. yes i do currently have and still u...

Re: Core 2 duo laptop for Live 10?

Heres the system recommendations: "OS X 10.11.6 or later Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor (Intel® Core™ i5 processor or faster recommended) 4 GB RAM (8 GB or more recommended)" L10.1 is running the same as L10, so yeah grab the demo and see how it performs on your machine. The i5 Part might be the bit w...
