Re: Insane CPU (since upgrade 9.6)
Just delete your preference.cfg - I've noticed these huge upswings in CPU when upgrading to new versions before, and every time, it goes back to normal when you trash your preferences.cfg and set up Live the you way like again, from scratch.

Re: Ableton Link
Tried this briefly today, the 2 computers didn't even find each other... is there some kind of OS or firewall setting that would prevent 2 computers running Link-enabled Live from establishing the connection?

Java now comes with adware
http://www.macrumors.com/2015/03/05/ask ... -java-mac/
I'd say this creates a HUGE disincentive to use software that relies on Java... Ableton devs - is there a future for M4L users that doesn't require us to install adware?

Re: Bitwig now has the gold standard in PDC
Yep I'm sure part of the problem is how old Ableton's code base is, but regardless of the technical reasons behind it, the PDC issue is a major drawback on workflow and my ability to produce results using Ableton, and if other DAWs are nailing it then Ableton has every chance of losing users...

Bitwig now has the gold standard in PDC
Bitwig's 1.1 update has overhauled its PDC engine, and now it's basically the gold standard of any DAW I'm familiar with... http://www.bitwig.com/en/bitwig_1up.html Ableton really needs to lift its game in this regard because Bitwig has shown that a bulletproof PDC scheme is possible in a Live-like ...

Re: Live 9.1 // OS X 10.9.0 // Kernel panics
Haha and now it's not bouncing properly either... a project I worked on at some point with the 9.1 betas has a track with a Max For Live instrument on it, and that track is rendering totally out of time, like the MIDI is playing back super erratically... This is super frustrating and disappointing, ...

Live 9.1 // OS X 10.9.0 // Kernel panics
Running Live 9.1 (release version) on OS X 10.9.0 is giving me very frequent kernel panics... 9.1b26 was quite stable but the first 2 times running the release version of 9.1 I got kernel panics straight away... The first one was before I could even touch anything in the GUI, the 2nd one was when I ...

M4L requires the horribly insecure Java 6?
Just setting up Live 9.0.6 after reinstalling OS X (10.8.5) and I installed the latest Java SE directly from Oracle (Java 7 update 40) but when I launch instances of Max For Live effects, I get an OS X dialogue box saying that Java 6 SE is required... Java 6 is rife with security issues that will *n...

Re: THE BIGGEST reason why a 3rd party bit-bridge sucks
No, you're missing my point. I knew there was no built-in bit bridge.
But did I know that the only 3rd party solution was so undercooked? That it would lose the loaded preset when recovering from a crash as I mentioned in my OP?

THE BIGGEST reason why a 3rd party bit-bridge sucks
- Load bridged plugins
- Ableton crashes (like it always does)
- Restart Ableton, recover crashed session
- Bridged plugins are reset to the default preset
Kill me now...
