thanks, ulidjan. unfortunately, what i'm looking for is what noisetonepause describes. i suppose i can route each out from Impulse to its own channel and then route the channels i want to group to yet another channel. guess i was hoping for a shortcut.

is it possible to route selected multiple outs from a VSTi, or let's say Impulse, to a single mixer channel? if not how are group/bus channels achieved in Live? what am i missing? feel free to refer me to the manual; i can't find what i need.

have you made sure to record-enable the midi track you're trying to play?

thanks! turning overdub off worked. i misunderstood that button; i thought when it was off, it would still record but would replace rather than mix MIDI data.

is this possible? i have MIDI clip which is sending MIDI to my external drum machine recorded already and i want to overdub it with some additional notes. before i record, however, i want to audition the new material without recording the notes. i know i can do this in Arrangement view, but i can't ...

i'm not sure if Live allows for multi sync out, but one possible workaround could be had using something like MIDIyoke/MIDI-ox. you could assign Live's sync out to a MIDIyoke port and then route that port to send to two (or more) ports on your MIDISport.

i would also like something like the adjustable quantize offered in cubase. what is called? iterative?

i think i've noticed the things you're talking about. they haven't been very bothersome for me, but i've had some of those issues. certainly the chopped clips thing could be changed. i don't quite like how that works. maybe a switch on the menus to add notes to existing clips rather than ...

I have this exact problem. With a ride pattern, as well! weird. I've reported it to Ableton support and sent them an example. That was just last night, so I haven't yet heard back.
